iflyflightsims Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 I was finally able to upgrade from my GTX1080 to an RTX3080Ti. I made a video comparing the performance of the two in case anyone else is thinking of doing the same. 2 2 1
chiliwili69 Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Very nice video, I suposse you recorded a track and then replayed it for each GPU setup. right? Basically when there is no clouds both GPUs reach the limit at 120fps which is the bottleneck of the CPU. In this case the 1080 is at the limit as well, but he 3080Ti is on aorund 40% load. When you put clouds then the 1080 became the bottleneck and the fps drops to the 60-90 range while with the 3080Ti the fps remains around 120fps and load raises to 60%. Your monitor run at 144Hz and has G-Sync, How different is the playgame experience runing with the 1080 and monitor at 72Hz, or the 3080Ti and monitor at 144Hz? 1

I think overall the 3080Ti offers a much smoother experience than the 1080. I get less FPS drops when flying over a big city. I was getting 45 FPS in some instances with the 1080. With the 3080Ti, I have all the settings maxed, and it doesn’t drop below 60 even over large cities.
Jaws2002 Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Chili is right. The cpu is the limit now. 3080ti can do more. I swapped my aorus 1080ti with Evga 3080ti FTW3 two weeks ago and, while I didn't do any controlled benchmarking in game, in qmb 8 vs 8 I get around 180fps at 1440p, with the ocasional drop to 120 fps. 3080ti is very fast. Congrats Edited July 29, 2021 by Jaws2002
