Yup. Copy and Paste.

Given further thought, if you have a strong internet connection, the game download goes quite fast when it isn't patch day for instance. You can save time by copying over any campaign or mission files, skins and your input folder.

If you have enough room on your storage drive put a back up copy of it on there.  Will save you when you need it.  100 times faster too.  I have three drives, ? regular SSD with OS and OS related programs, D is Dump Truck, where I store everything it's a Raptor WD, that's where all the Crap I have gets stored, and my E drive 1TB M.2 where all my games are.  I learned a long time ago there is never too much storage on your computer. Just keep things like the graphics, Input, missions folders up to date so if your install goes South on you everything is on the back up.

Cheers

I might be wrong but if one deletes the update folder, the game will automatically update the next time you start it.

Yeah, Rjel, I've had to try that a couple of times when a game started and it told me upon loading that my version did not match the servers version.. LOL, okay then update when I launch the "LAUNCHER.exe".  Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.  Hence my saving the back up, if I'm under time constraints.  It would not be that big of a deal if I did not have to redo all my TMWH settings in the game with TARGET software profile.  The saved copy is always up to date.  I have no registry problems, because I installed it originally on that "E" drive.

My Gawd... I love your icon! I'd forgotten that poster from my youth. What an incredibly beautiful woman!!

Yup I agree. I save a base install just in case. But once we have a major update, I do a complete reinstall. more a personal choice maybe than necessity. I just feel my game runs better that way.

So the updates folder is used by the game itself then ?

I think so but I'll let one of the more technically savvy members reply to that question.

Yes, the game checks the updates folder for updates before the game launches.

Thx, so if i deleted the 24GB updates folder, then moved the game to my new ssd, and then play game from there, the game will just redownload the 24GB updates folder again i guess.

Delete what's inside it, keep the folder................ or just put a - (Dash) in-front of it the folder name, your computer will not see it.

Very easily...install the game on the sad and then copy the files from the old HD to the sad installation. Uninstall and delete the HD installation after.

You mean copy over just the settings files from old hd install(graphic settings, binds, player progression etc etc), what folders files have all the player settings in then ? thx

You could just overwrite the whole game.

The version from the site don't depends on register or DLL hooks to start (like the version from STEAM) so you can just copy and past the whole game folder from HDD to SSD, but after you need make manually the shortcuts for il2.exe and/or for Launcher.exe (for use for future updates), can use both for start the game.

They are located in:

...\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game
