gunmetalstug Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 (edited) -INTRODUCTION- Have you been enjoying Il-2: Tank Crew, but thought to yourself, “Man, I like this game, but it’d be better with anime slathered all over it.” My first response would be, “that’s a really bizarre yet specific thought, stranger.” My second thought is, “I have you covered!” Welcome to ‘GunmetalStuG’s Weeb Pak’, a collection of tank skins that are in no way realistic, completely shatter your immersion, and convey no obvious tactical benefit! Featuring skins from the anime cult-hit ‘Girls und Panzer’ (a high school sports anime where the sport is WW2 tank combat), I’ve made an astounding 52 SKINS for many of the tanks featured in Il-2 Tank Crew. In the Girls und Panzer universe, tank combat is (somehow) a safe and friendly sport, so many of these camo patterns are very clean, as the vehicles see constant repairs and repaintings after every match. However, I’ve included ‘battleworn’ versions, which are less true to the source material, but have more texture and fit better into Tank Crew’s realistic aesthetic. I will alternate between 'battleworn' and 'clean' versions in the preview pictures. -SKINS BREAKDOWN- Here's a list of all the skins included in the current version of the pack, as well as minor explanations for each: ]-USSR-[ The skins included for tanks in the Allies Coalition. Spoiler T34-76 UTZ A mainline tank in Pravda Girls High School's Tankery Team, the T34-76 UTZ sees extensive use. This is their primary camouflage scheme as seen in the series: an off-white coat with the Pravda logo on the turret: This camo scheme was featured in Der Film, and is a simple Soviet-style dark green coat with smaller Pravda logos on the turret: Only shown in supplemental material, the Finnish-themed "Jatkosota High School" often makes use of absurd “Dazzle Camo”, which is only practical on winter maps. I mean, you CAN use it at Prokhorovka. You just shouldn’t. M4A2 The backbone of Saunders University High School’s Tankery team, they have more M4 Shermans (of all variants) then they know what to do with. Their paint scheme is a simple olive green coat with a Saunders logo on the front and side: A winter version is included for gameplay’s sake: KV-1s Although never depicted in animated media, Pravda has fielded a number of KV-1s in other materials, which have been reconstructed here. They have identical paint schemes to the T34s, with Pravda logos on the turret plating: Summer/ 'Der Film' Version: }-GERMANY-{ The skins included for tanks in the Axis Coalition. Spoiler PzKpfw III Ausf.M Although Kuromorimine technically possesses the ‘J’ variant and not the ‘M’, they’re so similar I figured I’d include it. A simple light-ochre paint scheme with the Kuromorimine logo on the side hull and rear: A winter version of the above, never depicted in any GuP media, but included for gameplay’s sake: Sparingly depicted, Viking Fisheries High School is the Norwegian-themed school, and their team composition is mostly guesswork. I included their Panzer III that they used in 'Der Film'. It also adds some real variety to the Panzer 3 skins! Getting that snow just right was a pain, believe you me: PzKpfw IV Ausf.G Left to rot in a garage for an unspecified number of years, the main characters’ Panzer IV (the F2 variant) was not given a paint scheme after initial restoration, outside of an Anglerfish Team logo on the turret: After upgrading their Panzer IV to an Ausf.H variant, the main characters repainted it with a dark brown, all-terrain coat. They also added a few Anglerfish Team logos on the turret skirts, as well as an Ooarai Girls’ Academy logo on the side skirts. This is the Ausf.G version of this paint scheme: As for Kuromorimine, despite not technically owning any Panzer IVs, I thought it was a bit ridiculous that the obviously German school didn’t use any. So, I mocked up some simple camo schemes with Kuromorimine’s standard scheme - light ochre coating with small logos on the turret and skirts: And a winter version mock-up included for gameplay purposes: Count High School is a manga-only school (so far), so these skins’ coloration is conjecture, based on historical Romanian T4 paint jobs. Based on Romanian Armored Divisions, this school employs lots of Panzer 4s and I love their witchy Translavanian-stereotype aesthetic, so I mocked up two skins for them, one in their ‘typical’ camo-stripe and grey barrel finish scheme: And another version using the matte-dark-green finish of their most famous tank ace (the side skirt version still has the logo): PzKpfw V Ausf.D “Panther” A centerpiece of Kuromorimine’s Tankery team and the Nishizumi School of combat. Standard Kuromorimne paint scheme. KMM technically uses the Ausf.G variant, but since the changes between the variants were mostly internal, I’ve adopted their skins for the Ausf.D: As before, the winter variants are conjecture, and included for gameplay’s sake: Although yet to be depicted, it’s BC Freedom is known to field a handful of Panthers. This scheme is in BC Freedom’s standard light green coating, with a team logo on the side, and the Academy’s logo on the hatch: Despite all the strange skins in this pack, I find this one to be the most cursed. Absurdly considered a ‘light tank’ compared to the rest of the All-Stars’ bevy of insanely superheavy late-war tanks, the University uses a handful of bright-pink Panther Gs as training tanks. Dubious practicality in actual combat. Very dubious: PzKpfw VI Ausf.H1 “Tiger” Kuromorimine uses the Ausf.E Tiger variant as their primary command and flag tank, typically under the command of the Nishizumi sisters. These use the standard KMM paint scheme, with the exception of a numbered turret - Maho’s is “212”: While Miho’s (only visible briefly in a flashback) is “217”: I also included 'bare' versions that don't have the numbers if you want to add your own markings: The winter variant is conjecture: Although Ooarai’s Mechanics’ Club actually uses the disastrous and vanishingly rare Tiger (P), I decided to include their paint scheme for the decidedly less insane (and actually mass- produced) Ausf.H2 variant. Sporting a dark grey coat, this version also features dual Leopon Team emblems on the turret, and the Ooarai Girls’ Academy logo on the side hull: Sd. Kfz. 184 “Ferdinand” Charitably referred to as "God's Mistake", the Ferdinand is a mechanical disaster that, as a heavy tank destroyer, was a clearly necessary part of Kuromorimine's roster of absurdity. If the 'safe tank combat' and 'high school girls' part didn't break your immersion, the scene of Kuromorimine's Elefant climbing an angle of 45 degrees certainly sealed the deal. In any case, I've included their slightly darker shade of the standard KMM paint scheme, which has a huge emblem on the side of the casemate: Once again, the winter variant is conjecture: -TO-DO LIST- This is a list of skins that are currently being developed (or being looked at) but aren't currently included: SU-152 - Currently can't complete due to the howtizer cannon and wheels being unpaintable from the proffered template. Pravda Summer Pravda Winter SU-122 - Same issues as above, plus technically not owned by Pravda. Plus, no one drives them. Pravda Summer Pravda Winter Tiger H1 - Currently, the only colored depiction of a Bellwall tiger is really boring, and their logo sucks. On the back burner. Bellwall Panzer III - Lots of minor schools use the Panzer III, but I couldn't find sufficient references for their paint schemes. Count High School Blue Division Yogurt Academy Panzer IV - Same issue as above. Blue Division Yogurt Academy Jatkosota -DOWNLOAD THE PAK!- There are three different versions to download, depending on what you'd prefer: PakAll: Contains ALL skins in the pack. PakBattle: Contains only 'battleworn' versions of the skins. PakClean: Contains only the 'clean' versions of the skins. Installation Instructions: Download whichever Pak you want and save it wherever you like, then extract the DDS files within. No matter which version you downloaded, you can simply copy and paste the extracted folders into your "Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins" directory. Don't worry, they won't overwrite each folder! They'll just add the skins within to each folder in the directory. ALSO: If you have Haluter's Skin Downloader, you can use it to download whichever skin from the pack you want! -Continuing Support- Let me know on this thread if you have questions, comments, concerns, or requests! If you run into issues installing or viewing the skins, let me know. I'm also pretty new to painting skins, so your patience is appreciated! I hope you enjoy, and Panzer Vor!
