Was the sound the Skylark herad actually an implosion, or was it something else?

 

Where was the second implosion then, after signals ceased. The wreckage-pattern implies that all compartments had imploded, so for somebody surviving and sending signals, there needs to be an implosion more than a day after the sound deemed the implosion by the Skylark.

 

Then there's the point whether a sub can partially implode, or will always be beercanned into oblivion within an instant and at whole. There probaly are instances where this can happen, but how likely is it and could it happen here?
