theSelf Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 After a short hiatus from running Il-2 BoS/BoB/Flying Circus which ran great before, on trying again these past 2 days it keeps crashing moments after starting any mission- everything freezes in my hmd and also the mirror on my monitor is frozen too yet I can still hear the sim's audio playing in the background as if normal..this happens every single time though the time before freezing varies a little but still happens within a couple of minutes max too and have to use task manager to quit it every time.. I can't play like this.. is there a fix for this? I'm running via steam VR beta (tried non beta version and still does the same), Pimax 8KX hmd, rtx 2080ti GPU and i7 10700K CPU, 64GB RAM at 3600MHz.. Thanks for any feedback
AEthelraedUnraed Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Is everything up-to-date? (IL2, Steam, NVidia drivers, pimax software, Windows)? Otherwise, what happens if you press enter? There might be some error message happening in IL2 that pops up *behind* the screen (I've seen it before). Try to alt-tab. Completely re-installing IL2 or checking the game integrity in steam may also work.

firdimigdi Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) That's usually a sign of unstable overclocking. Another possibility although you probably have done so already is to do a clean driver install using DDU. If that doesn't give results then tone down the OCing of your card, either across the board or with a custom voltage curve, even if it's factory-overclocked. If you are still having problems then make sure that temperatures are not going up (if the card is more than 2-3 years old then the heat conduction pads on the memory and VRMs will likely need replacing by now, as would the thermal paste on the die) and power source is adequate (don't power the 2080Ti with a daisy chain cable but instead opt for separate GPU power lines for each 8pin cable). 354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 I also got this error in il2 when I was trialing a rtx 3060 ti that I was overclocking. Dialing it back fixed it for me.
