Game acts like shift, cntrl, or alt keys are constantly pressed

I've been having the strangest issue with IL-2 (well one of the most frustrating anyway). I've found that periodically during gameplay (maybe 15 minutes in, maybe 5 minutes in, and just recently as soon as the game loaded) that my keyboard would not be responsive or only partially responsive. Sometimes it would act like the shift key, or alt key, or control key, or some other key was constantly pressed. That means that when I tried to use the keyboard as usual, some other random key short-cut would occur. One time, whenever I hit the escape key the open windows on my desktop kept switching (like I was hitting alt-tab but I was only hitting escape). I use Joystick Gremlin to bind keys to my Virpil CM3 throttle so sometimes my button bindings get messed with as well (I hit the button I have mapped to the gears, but instead radiators open). However, I can fix the issue if I hit left shift, left cntrl, left alt, right alt, right cntrl, and right shift individually (or in some other order) and THEN try to alt-tab the screen. That gets me to switch screens and then the game plays as normal. It's like the stuck key gets unstuck. I'm then good to go for another period of time until it happens again.

 

This is getting me extremely pissed off. It's hard enough to learn this game (I'm new to this sim) while trying to get my joystick, throttle, foot pedals, head tracking, etc. to all work as intended without the game throwing this at me.

 

Anyone know what the heck is going on? Any help would be appreciated.
