CisTer-dB- Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I am in the process of upgrading my rig, I am considering 4 k monitor. Does BoS will perform well on a 4k monitor?
Capt_Stubing Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 You will need some serious GPU performance to run at the native res of 4K. It will be game dependent.
flyingjulez Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'd say the textures used for planes etc. are too low res. You won't see much of a difference.
Dieter_Schlueter Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'd say the textures used for planes etc. are too low res. You won't see much of a difference. Especially in the cockpits .
Jason_Williams Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It should run in 4K, but we do not have a 4K monitor yet. Still quite pricey. Jason
CisTer-dB- Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 I should have asked if we will be able to play it with the 4K res (3840 x 2160)OR maybe I should go for a 2560x1440 res monitor instead.
pixelshader Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 4k would be amazing for spotting planes, but you would need a couple of titans to get playable framerates
CisTer-dB- Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Yes Indeed it would for what I read you need 2 GPU with an SLI
PauloHirth Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Hight resolution is a great improvement for anti-aliasing, my sugestion is the resolution setting with 4K, this will be the standart in next years, the TVs is ready to be the monitor.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 S! I would be happy to have 2560x1440. 4K would require too much of hardware upgrading to be an enjoyable experience.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Don't waste your money on a 30hz 4K monitor. Also beware of monitors claiming 60+hz as it may only be 60@1080p. Here are the only 4K monitors I would buy at this time: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KJGY3TO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2JET8P60YNHIL&coliid=I3MN7RGYGD1WNC http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IEZGWI2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2JET8P60YNHIL&coliid=I2CT309L5ZGC09 And this one which isn't really 4K but I do like 21:9 for flight sims: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IJUFGDE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2JET8P60YNHIL&coliid=I3AIJV0BZCHCAW
SharpeXB Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 You can test this without a new monitor. Just set your GPU to a custom resolution of 4k. I don't remember exactly how but you can do a search.
CisTer-dB- Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Will 1C will design the game witch such an high resolution (3840 x 2160) is the question, of course I can plug an 4K monitor if I have the hardware for it. But it's no use if, because the game res, the game makes 1/4 of the screen.

But it's no use if, because the game res, the game makes 1/4 of the screen. Thats typically not how games work. You will be able to run the game at any resolution and the polys will be rendered as such. The textures however can only be as hi quality as the devs include.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 S! Sharpe, I think it is called downsampling. I am pretty content with my current 121Hz screen, even it is only 23". A good 27" or 28" would be nice too.
Maxiku Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I haven't got a 4k monitor but I can confirm it runs beautifully at 2560x1600 on my 30" Dell monitor using a HD7990 graphics card. Hope it helps.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 S! Maxiku, how is the scaling of XFire in BoS as you seem to use a dual-GPU card.
