Who else doesn't care

One of the problem that you describe isn’t a problem anymore, I don’t think.  IL-2 was made originally for ww2 planes, and as it was modeled, you really couldn’t do a wheels down landing on an unprepared surface.  But then FC comes along and belly landings aren’t what they used to be anymore.  I remember reading a thread about open field landings, and pretty sure it’s fixed now.

Not sure how it used to be, but landings off official airfields are still super rough. Somebody else would have to comment for a comparison between former conditions and now.

I don’t expect all landings to be buttery smooth no matter where they are. Right now it feels punishingly difficult to touch down the WW1 aircraft without damage unless you have a prepared surface.

I’ll keep an eye out for info on the ground/landings, and if anybody knows where it’s hiding on the forums I’d appreciate a link(s)!

I've found that if you choose the correct surface (never land on a plowed field) and make a decent landing, your airplane won't be damaged.  However, many people I've seen landing online could use a bit of landing practice and a rougher surface will make it more challenging to save a poor landing.

The developers never envisioned how often most of you guys get shot down.

Flew for the first time in a while the other day, and the occasion I crashed - my fuselage did jump at least 150 feet into the air.

Never seen that before.

The 'soggy' ground issue was highlighted way back at the beginning.

Was 'fixed' maybe about 18 months later - but to me it's was never much better.

WW1 planes impacting the ground in a violent manner almost seem a bit WWII-ish kaboom to me rather than just crumpling. Not sure why that is? And soggy ground still seems a little soggy to me.

While I wait for improvements, it's back to the accordion and the groupies.

Wait and see.  I'd prefer to see what the other aircraft turn out like and how no man's land is depicted first.

Yeah, it was claimed to have been fixed but my experience has been that it's still very spongy.

I always thought Flanders was in Belgium. But maybe I'm jut ignorant. AFIK the main opposition to the Spad 7 150hp was the Albatros DII then DIII.

Hoping we'll see those in FC3.  Same for the Noop-17, Pup, Strutter, and the Harry Tate. Or all the planes. Yes, lets get all the planes...

Hope to see the Nieuport N11 too. Maybe some that weren't in RoF like the DH9, Albatross 2 seaters.

Steady on! Next you'll want the Short 184 torpedo bomber. But than we'd need the Belgian Channel and the North Belgian Sea. Or maybe the Med and some Macchi flying boat flghters?

About planes or maps and just wants an damn career mode?

I don't care at all because of broken wings and controls surface damage model.

Flanders is in Belgium yes. IIRC, the tiny sliver of Belgium that remained after the initial invasion is in fact all Flanders, which is why we'd need only that bit.

(There's also a bit of regionalism going on wrt Flanders and Wallonia what with the whole "two languages one country" thing)

Incidentally I do care about planes and maps, career mode is a nice feature but PWCG and online flying is a lot of fun.

You should be careful, people might be listening and make it happen... and then where would we be?

Did someone mention Macchi flying boat fighters?  Yes please.

AGAIN:  I fly all the planes, never have the wings come off without cause, and have no problem with the damage model.  In fact, Flying Circus flies BEAUTIFULLY.  :salute:

Therefore, I suspect that: (1) threads like this are mostly engendered by emotionally needy children having fun with their pen pals by complaining about something online; (2) it's likely they fly a twitstick or X-box controller instead of a stick and pedals; but most likely, (3) because they grew up on WWII games and Star Wars, they just don't understand the sensitive touch needed to fly an antique taildragger.

FC is the best WW1 sim ever.  If you can't enjoy a sim that's this good, the problem is you; not the sim.

Sorry if I'm mistaken, but aren't you the guy who, just, constantly used to cry about BnZ planes and how they were ruining the game

In which case the name “death from above” is a bit ironic, isn’t it Allanis?
