I use a Virpil warbrd base for my main stick but recently simultaneously rigged a honeycomb yoke for bombers etc.  It added it just fine but when I tried to go back and use the stick it won't work.  I can still map both, but the stick simply doesn't register.  If I delete the yoke (pitch / roll) it works again.

Does anyone know if this is expected multiple pitch/roll axis behavior or do I simply have something conflicting?

I imagine it's relevant to the order with which the game polls the controllers. If you are moving the controller that it polls first and the other one is immobile then the value of the last one is used in game.

The solution is remap Aileron, Pitch ever time you want swap controllers.

If the game had individual plane control profile - like in RoF, CloD, DCS... remapping would not be necessary.

He could also do what I do, have a specific current.map, current.actions, and devices.txt for each plane, and simply copy and paste them out when switching planes.

This can be done with Joystick Gremlin and Vjoy. Basically you want to have two or more modes. In one mode, the physical joystick axes (I'll denote them Jx, Jy) will be mapped to a pair of virtual axes (Vx, Vy). In the other mode, the physical yoke axes (Yx, Yy) are mapped to (Vx, Vy) instead. Bind Vx, Vy in game, and set up a key or keys to toggle between modes. Now you can switch between devices with a keypress.

I do something like this with engine controls. In single engine mode, my left/right throttle are mapped to Vx, Vy (bound to RPM and Throttle, respectively). In twin engine mode, my left/right throttle are mapped to Vrx, Vry (bound in game to Throttle 1 and Throttle 2). I just twist the mode selector on my CM3 and JG configures all of my engine controls as needed for the plane I'm flying.
