Suggestion: Please Allow Gunners to swap gun positions like the pilot

Hi,

 

I am sure I remember playing this where myself and a mate can be in the same plane, with him piloting and me being the gunner and swapping seats.

 

Is this no longer possible? If not, can this be implemented please? 

 

I have just been playing around. It seems I can only swap if I am the pilot?

If you’re in a gunner position in multiplayer you can still swap between gun positions but you have to press Esc. and access the menu from there.

 

The pilot can still access the gun positions the same way as he would in single player.

So are you saying I would need to leave the mission/plane and re-join the plane in order to swap position?

Yeah.  Though you don't leave the actual mission you do have to re-enter the plane.

That is quite unintuitive. I wonder why the pilot is allowed to switch, but the gunner is not. Its not realistic anyway, so why not let the gunner switch seats like the pilot can?

Hi,

 

I haven't played in a while, but used to play a lot as a gunner, so I wanted to get back into it. I am sure us gunners (a minority I suppose lol) would really appreciate the function of being able to change position as gunner when playing with mates. 

 

A pilot can switch positions, but a gunner has to leave the mission, re-select another position and then re join, which can be frustrating. The reasons for requesting this are as follows:

 

• Leaving the mission and re-joining is a little long winded and those valuable seconds of switching position to fight off an enemy are vital
• The gunner role is currently unrealistic. We know that gunners had to take control of other guns if something happened to the other gunner
• The pilot can switch (which I understand why if he is a single pilot) - but why shouldn't the actual assigned gunner be able to do so as well? 
• You could even have it so that if the pilot locks the gun positions, then the gunner already in the plane can switch. But if he unlocks them (say if other players want to join as gunners) then the gunner positions are fixed
