Been seeing videos that things are/will improve.

I’m not so sure. China recently cracked down on Bitcoin mining big time. Unlike before where it was mostly talk, this time it was serious. Many think China wants to make sure the digital yuan has no competition.

As a result the Bitcoin hash rate has dropped significantly.

In response the mining algorithm has been changed to make it easier for remaining miners to make $$$.

This may also incentive others to start mining. If it becomes profitable to mine on a small scale the GPU situation may be extended.

I read that same information and share your concerns.

I purchased a EVGA FTW3 3080 10GB three days ago (1049€ + 6€ for delivery). Six months ago, you could buy it for 890€. I think we are better than last six months.

Here in down under land, RTX GPU availability is now reasonable and 3070, 3080 Ti & 3090's are in stock if your are not after a specific model.

Prices are also on a downward trend at retailers and at a rough guess are now 15% off their recent peaks.   A 3080 Ti  still costs more than what I paid for my 3090, about 7 months ago, but at least now things are heading in the right direction.

In the US the only place I can find them remains NewEgg's shuffle. Best Buy, etc still don't seem to have any online, let alone at retail.

I finally got one. What a great Independence Day surprise!! Saw the local Microcenter was showing Asus Tuf and EVGA FTW Ultra 3080’s as limited availability. From what I read online that usually means they have a very small number of cards and that they are probably already allocated to those who had been given a voucher to purchase them. But I decided to invest a couple of hours, got to the store an hour and a half before opening and was 5th in line. Three of those in front of me were there for 3080’s so my expectations dropped even further thinking if they had any it would be two or three. To my complete surprise when the doors opened we were taken to a table, asked what we wanted and received the golden voucher assuring me I had a card. Walked out 15 minutes later with a EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra at the MSRP. Thank you Micro Center.

The insane almost one year hunt is over. Will be installing it tomorrow. Still can’t believe it. I hope anyone seeking a new gpu will get one soon!
