Bug or I'm trying to do things that aren't meant to be done?

I've created a I/JG51 pilot for me and my bro, then added a Stuka unit pilot for myself. Create mission, it creates the Stuka mission (me as reference pilot). Once into the actual game co-op lobby I see my brother with his Fw190, I have a Stuka. The briefing shows both our flight routes, originating from the same airfield. His diverts onto its own mission. We've tried it twice but the Fw190s spawn into some of the Stukas, notably his Fw190 partially into my Stuka. Taxying forward (we tried alternately in the two missions), one of us gets his prop broken.

So, I don't know if this is a coincidental bug or that trying to have human pilots in different units will never work.

TIA as always for any answers. :)

It's something that I knew about but do not have a ready answer for.  If two different human  populated units start from the same airfield this will happen.  As a workaround you can reassign one or the other of you to a unit with a different field.

Here are the issues:

1. Not enough runway to line up two flights

2. You can try starting parked, but that is buggy in the game

3. I could make one of the flights air start, but most people don't like that.

I assumed we were on the same field due to the way the code worked. It also gave his guys bombs, so I figured that was also a 'cross-pollination' thing going on with me being the mission creator and my Stukas having bombs. I've worked a fair bit with the mission editor and know what a cluster-fk it is, so how you managed to integrate it into your own program (150k lines of code!!!) AND have it work so well, blows my mind.

I've sent him a spare throttle quadrant so he can join me in the Stukas, that'll fix the problem. Lol.

Thanks for all the explanations Pat. :)
