...monitor goes black for a solid 5 secs before the IL-2 splash screen appears. When I shut off the same happens before I'm back to windows.

Is it just me?

When I start the game there is a black screen flash and then the splash screen appears.  By flash, I mean less than a second.  On exiting the game there is no black screen.

Not just you, happen to my screen too. I think the reason why this happen been, that screen change it's resolution from native to in game. In my case from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and I use full screen too.

I hear what you say but the thing is, I have both the game and the system running at the same 2560x1440 resolution which also happens to be the native resolution of my monitor. I am somehow bothered because I occasionally get CTD's during loading and I'm not sure what's to be blamed
