It depends on your preferences if you don't mind listing them.  There is no perfect HMD for a reasonably price right now.

HP G2 has good clarity but poor FoV

VP2 has good clarity, good edge to edge with replacement face cushion but comes with excessive godrays and will not run at native on your 1080Ti

Index would be a downgrade for FoV

Pimax 8KX would be a natural progression if you want the FoV and improved clarity.

I have a VP2 and 8KX and overall slightly prefer the VP2 for the better edge to edge clarity but I have started to miss that very nice FoV.

Luckily you only need to buy the HMD, so that will keep costs lower.

So, you need to find out your IPD. That's going to drive what headsets you can and cannot use. I've got a 71mm IPD, so the Reverb G1, with its optical 63mm IPD and digital adjustment only out to 68mm IPD was a failure for me.

But, if you're a 58mm IPD, you'll need an entirely different headset set.

Yes you can digitally tweak things in Steam, but even that will mean at least one eye will always be out of focus to some degree.

In Il-2 I'm running a VP2 at psuedo native. It's set to the High setting, but steam super sampling is set to 2900*2900, so the image is pretty clear. However, I do have to turn the game's internal render to 0.7 for consistent results. So, it's not true native. However, because of the sweet spot issue I had in the Reverb G1, it has higher clarity for me.

DCS, on the other had does not run well at those setting without serious down-tuning. I haven't dove into that yet, so I couldn't tell you how far that is.

But, again, you need to check your IPD.

Atlan, sorry but it is time to update your pc first. Until that stick to your Pimax 5k+.

Have you tried reprojection always on, and ss=1? (pitool ss 100%) It is still beautiful, and you can spot enemies with that settings too.

Ps: I had setup as yours before, now I am enjoying Pimax 8kx with 2080ti and intel 8800k. I think about changing my pc..
