RedKestrel Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I have and use the EdTracker wired for my headtracking in Il-2 and I really like it, especially as depending on time of day I sometimes have significant backlighting, which I think would cause problems with IR trackers. Unfortunately they've gone out of business and I never pulled the trigger to purchase a replacement. My kid accidentally dropped my headset with the tracker on it the other day and while it doesn't seem any worse for wear it made me think about having a backup tracker unit just in case again. I have got good reviews for the Delanclip IR tracking setup and am considering ordering one as a backup, but I honestly like the way the EdTracker functions better - all internal to the unit. Is anybody making a similar type of unit, using magnetometer/gyros for head tracking?
Flying_Colander Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 'EdKestrel, No need to settle but you may have to make it yourself. Edtracker is still available, more or less. https://hobbycomponents.com/electronics/440-465-diy-head-tracker-bundle#/240-kit_options-pre_soldered_edtracker_with_enclosure Occasionally, they'll pop up on Ebay.co.uk. 1
