He-111 detail...

Really looking forward to the completed game (have the original IL2 and CLOD too)... So when I went to the buy link I noticed the He-111 landing gear is quite a bit off in the picture. Has this been made more accurate in the real game? It looks like a carryover design error from the original IL2? I've documented the real thing in Germany and modeled it in Solidworks for giant scale R/C airplanes, but hoping it is modeled correctly in game (angles, diameters, retracts etc.)... (my design in the 3rd pic has some concessions to manufacturing as I make fully functional versions in 1/6th scale, but all the key dimensions and angles are correct near as I can measure)

Cheers,

Were there changes to the landing gear configuration as the 111 evolved? That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

Your model looks fantastic by the way!

As far as I know the gear didn't rly change on the He 111.

Even the Spanish He 111 has exactly the same configuration.

Apart from that I'm sure devs have more than enought evidence to model an accurate gear tbh. I wouldn't mind that much judging by an 2d graphic only.

Agreed. Until we actually see the He 111 in the game it's mainly speculation we're dealing with here.

Yep, the 111 gear was the same on all variants with minor exceptions (tires, with our without shock boots etc). I was just curious as the same errors are in the original IL2. I don't know exactly how or why, but WWII landing gear is kinda my speciality and I'm modeling and building many of them in 1/6, 1/5 and 1/4 scale for R/C - I guess because nobody makes decent ones for any of the complicated models (Thanks Sallee).

In any case, it's good that we have a knowledgeable and perceptive community who can spot those kinds of things.

Let us know anything you might find on the actual He 111 when it arrives Spinnetti.

There are static HE-111 in game sitting at the airfields.

These externals are interessting, but not decisive IMO.

Lets have a look at the cockpit instruments, when they are in place.

And which functions are working and what has been left aside.

Looking forward to the release...

Just to close out, the in-game gear is pretty faithful to the real thing at least at the fidelity implemented...

Pretty close, I'd say
