Hi, recently my wife  started doing some live stream on Twitch with an RPG game she likes and she's loving it, so I decided to give it a go with my flight sims as well to see if I can enjoy it. Since I am flying in VR to configure it for the stream is trickier. In DCS I have an in game option to mirror on screen only one eye, so I adjusted the image to fill properly on the stream software and started recording to check how was the quality and I was happy with the result.

Then I tried to do the same with Il-2, but the problem is, it shows both eyes in one screen. I tried doing the same as I did with DCS, but this time I had to "zoom" much more the game capture to fill the screen with only one eye, but as expected the result was a low resolution image being shown as I had to zoom too much. I am using the maximum resolution my monitor can handle (1440p).

I would like to know if it is possible to render only one eye on screen, or maybe another solution that I am missing. Thank you in advance for your help.

I believe there is a setting in SteamVR that lets you project one eye into a desktop window. I'll go check and see if I can find the setting when I get a chance to get back on my desktop.

Oh, thank you very much! I'll try that!

@AlexandreCosta this will lead to a hard drop in framerate.

I recommend OBS' OpenVR plugin. There select the right eye, then crop the image a bit, then stream it. It's the best and most efficient option.:good:

Thank you. That worked really well indeed. ?

4.702 added vr:render_eye option which  lets you choose which eye to project to screen.

Sweet nice to see they added this functionality! Would be even better if it was in game GUI but this will work as well.

S!,

I must be missing something. I opened my startup.cfg and i can't find this option. Did it disappear?

No, but they had a typo in the original DD, and the correct term you need to look for is or_render_eye if I remember correctly.

I don't have that line either. Did you have to add it?

No. It’s there. Please follow the link in my post and go to Han’s changelog. It is item 28 in the list.

I am confused. When I am playing in VR, there is also a 2D version on my PC screen by default.  Does the OP need something else in order to record it?

I see it listed in the "Game Updates" announcement. I'm sorry to say that "render" is not in my startup.cfg file at all. Performed a  search on the startup.cfg to be sure. It's not there. I guess I'll try adding it manually.

I’m not in front of the computer, but I did not have to add it. Do you not have a “VR” section in the startup.cfg file?

Also, you do have the game version 4.702, do you not?

Mine doesn't have a VR section. Try opening the startup.cfg file and hit the F3 key to open its search box. Type or_ and keep tapping F3 until you find or_render_eye. That's how I found it in the [KEY = graphics] section.
