Hi all, unfortunately I'm having some in game issues.

 *Firstly, randomly unable to use ESC to enter menu page or to leave the game. I have to ctrl alt delete.

*Next is random view changes, ie I press the gear down button or open canopy button and the view snaps back to a rear view position or another view and I can't correct it, I just have to exit game.

*Next if I use the HUD it sometimes won't switch on or off, or just dissapear's the same with the map, these also cause graphic changes, it's all random, a different issue and a different button. I use Track-ir and have no issues with this so far so don't use any snap view's.

 

I have uninstalled and re- installed a few times, triple checked settings and assignments all good, I'm at a total loss as to the problem.

I've been playing Stalingrad for about a week with no issues and now just random issues.

My Machine is quite new with top end max hardware all updated etc.

Any help would be welcome.

When the ESC don´t work you usually have some swich flicked that constantly send a command that blocks the ESC signal. For me usually forgotten to put the flaps lever to neutral on my warthog throttle. A way to find out is alt tab out bring up a notepad and you´ll see the smbol printing along happily! Turn of the swich (or whatever is repeating) and alt tab back into the game. Iguarantee you´ll never forget again.  The secon, make sure you dont´t have double commands for the botton you´re pressing, ie a smatt orange square in the command settings! The other issues I have no clue, sorry.

Hi all, I've installed and played IL2 Stalingrad for a week or so with no major issues. Now I'm having many issues all random in occurrence and frequency.

 

*The first thing was the canopy randomly opened in flight, and would not close, although pop up message says closing canopy, so key stroke/button push is registering.

 

*Next unable to enter menu or

exit game by using ESC, I have to ALT CONTROL DELETE to leave game.

* Next random graphic changes and camera snap views by pushing a key to open canopy or lower landing gear etc all random.

* Next if I switch of hud or map I can't switch them back on again, this also causes the random camera or graphic changes and not being able to us ESC.

* I use trackir and have an up-to-date pc with good spec. I can play DCS and other sims without any issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers Doc ?

Hi all, Im re posting this to give some extra information!

I've installed and played IL2 Stalingrad for a week or so with no major issues. Now I'm having many issues all random in occurrence and frequency.

My first issue is, the home screen magnification ! The plane in the hanger takes up the whole screen and I can only see 2/3 of it.

*The first issue I encountered was the canopy opening randomly, then not being able to close it, pop up message on screen says close canopy so it registers the key stroke / button push !

* This fault is intermittent, I'm unable to enter the in game menu or exit game by using ESC, I have to use ALT CONTROL DELETE to leave game.

* Next random graphic changes and camera snap views by pushing a key to open canopy or lower landing gear etc all random.

* Next if I switch off hud or map, I can't switch them back on again, this also causes the random camera or graphic changes and not being able to us ESC.

* I use track-ir and have an up-to-date pc with good spec. I can play DCS and other sims without any issues.

 

I have verified my files, unplugged and re plugged USB devices, double checked key mapping and dual key binds, and tried various screen resolutions to get home screen looking right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers Doc ?

I know you have mentioned some of these but...

 

Delete all of the key bindings that you do not use to ensure there is no conflict or duplicate key use.  You may see an orange icon next to the command - hover over it and you will see what duplicate command is there.  You can use a single key binding for multiple commands safely, providing they do not conflict.  Examples:

 

Dive brakes and siren

Open cowl shutters/Open radiators

Adjustable elevator/supercharger (P47)

 

Just make sure you do not have open canopy also mapped to something like flaps.

 

The menu not coming up is due to some kind of input going on.  Centre all commands and trims etc then try again.  It happened for me but only when I have used the adjustable stabiliser command for the 109, and my lever is at a certain position.

 

Check in Windows to see if any controllers are spiking or putting out commands through some kind of hardware/software issue.

 

And please don't post with white text on a black background - it is off-putting.

If you use Discord and are opening the overlay that could also be an cause of the unable to press escape issue.Though this tends to prevent any keys or clicks registering and just joysticks register.

 

Can get out of that by spamming opening and closing the overlay, then at some point seems to start working again. Also leaving the Discord overlay through clicking outside of it seems to cause the issue less than leaving through using the key shortcut.

 

At least this is what I’ve found on my system.

Random opening must mean you have some other comm that interfears. take note of what youre doing when the canopy opens! If it is some kind of order youre giving check that and change accordingly. The closing canopy issue can be caused by beeing at a too high speed (if its in the spit or hurry). To adjust your hangar screen go to the startup.config and adjust the two screen settings to your screen size. Note there are two times screen hight and width! Adjust both! The Esc comm is usually blocked by forgetting to set some swich to neutral, (usually leaving the flaps in a position{don´t ask me how I know})! To find out whats sending alt tab out and start notepad and se what is written, that is your comm repeating. The other issues may be caysed by double comms as some of the orders and visual comms don´t register as double comms. You need to check those very carefully!

 

Why do you post the same issues twice? If the first answer didn´t do any good use the same post for further description of your problem and some more can jump in to help!
