ACG_Orb Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Hi all Does anyone know what the darkest black value is on the alpha before it turns transparent? Cheers!
Raptorattacker Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Pure Black is transparent. RGB O O O. Anything above (10, 10, 10 for instance) isn't.
SR603-Flowbee Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 I think it is 6 but you could just put it to the test as someone else said it was 4. I have a feeling it probably is 4 but I never go below 6 to maintain a margin for error. Remember when adjusting the levels to drop the top end first (or leave it alone) before raising the black to 4 or above. I’m using Photoshop so if you use Gimp this might not make sense.
ICDP Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Sometimes it depends on the actual plane. I have seen some where it was 4 and others where it was 7 or 9. Really you just need to test by making an almost black alpha and see where it becomes transparent. Or you could just aim for 10,10,10 and accept it will be very low/zero reflectivity. 1
ACG_Orb Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) Thanks all! Much appreciated I'm a PS user... So makes sense. Edited June 21, 2021 by ACG_Orb
Danziger Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 With the Yak-9 and 9t, it's way brighter than usual. Like a middle value grey is transparent.
