Someone should make a VR mod for 1946

Seems to me like 1946 could have a lot of life breathed back into it if someone got a good VR mod working. Theres a crapload of content in it, a huge mod community that's created everything from WW1 to modern jets! sure the flight modelling and systems are a little dated, but theres nothing wrong with quantity over quality in some cases, and 1946 sure has quantity when it comes to the sheer amount of planes and theaters to fly in (Pacific anyone?)

I've seen a few older games modded to work in VR, and not just a workaround like Vorpx, which I've tried and frankly is not very good at all, especially for 1946. The best example I can think of is Richard Burns Rally with the RBRvr mod, aside from the occasional crash (which could just as well be RBR itself) it works wonderfully. Old games are often good candidates for VR conversions as the older graphics are easier to run in the headset.

As cliché as it sounds, I'd absolutely be willing to donate to a project to make this happen, 1946 in VR would honestly be a dream come true for me and plenty of other VR users who can't go back to flat screen (whether by choice or because they literally can't, plenty of VR users have gotten rid of their Trackir and monitors in their flight rig) and I'm sure anyone who browses this section of the forums would love to see the added influx of players and attention to this old gem of a flight sim.

So what do you guys think? seems to me if an almost as old game like Richard Burns Rally can work in VR, IL-2 could also be converted, and the VR flight sim community could certainly use more variety of quality sims to play.

Yes would great and I would buy it.

But in the meantime will continue using the vorpx workaround dispite of all shortcomings.

Best Regards

It will be great: as reported in CoD subforum, also GTR2/GTL/AMS1 has a great fan-made VR, so implementing that in games such as Il2-1946 is not impossible. Not easy, but not impossibile. Lets dream...
