FTC_Mars Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Hi, in the book Typhoon Pilot the author, Desmond Scott, recounts a number of dramatic encounters with turbulence from very near misses with other fighter aircraft. In Il-2 I don't recall ever having trouble with turbulence when flying right behind another plane, so I assume they aren't part of the flight model. Have realistic slipstream effects been considered for Il-2? It would add to the challenge and immersion when flying around other aircraft because you would "feel" the close calls. Here are two examples of dramatic encounters with slipstreams from Typhoon Pilot: Quote "An Me 109 had swooped down on [Gall's] tail and misjudged his distance when just above the water. He hit Gall's slipstream, dropped a wing tip, touched the sea, and cartwheeled in a fountain of spray" p.34 Quote "I realized immediately that I had forgotten something when a 190 overshot and crossed to starboard right in front of me. I pressed the firing button, and as he flew through my fire I hit his slipstream and was thrown into a spin." p.48 1 2
SCG_motoadve Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Its definitely not modelled, would be nice to have it. 1
Angry_Kitten Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 I could have sworn that if you had the game settings to full realism, ie wing stutter, etc, then you WOULD experience slip stream? I know for a while i was getting bounced around from flying too close.
