Hi,

I have a problem regarding a 21:9 monitor I use particularly a LG 34WK650.

Now the problem is that this specific monitor has a small flaw design as I have found out. While the displays resolution is 2560x1080  giving an aspect ratio of 2.37. its physical dimensions are 77.78x 33.1 cm giving an aspect ratio of 2.35. I dont even know how is this possible( but it is I swear!) as my previous 27inch 16:9 1920x1080 monitor had both physical dimensions and resolution aspect ratio 1.77.  Now this creates a small distortion issue across all games :( which is quite irritating sometimes. Fortuanetely, in some games I can compensate that by setting a custom aspect ratio in the config files like in dcs for example. I also tried setting a custom resolution of a smaller display like 2500x1080 to simulate 2.35 aspect ratio and compensate with my graphics card scaling option to make it full screen but somehow I think such resolution is unsupported as it reverts back to 2560x1080.

So I looked in the startup cfg for an option like this but to my avail I see non. So I am asking is there anything I can do to fix this or change the games aspect ratio fov calculation? or am I stuck with small distortion forever until I buy a new monitor???

I tried a custom resolution and it seemed to work fine. I changed value of full_width from 3440 to 3400 and kept full_height in 1440 (in starup.cfg file in the Data folder). Then in game I took a screenshot and the files resolution is 3400x1440 so that's why I think it works. Running in full screen mode of course. You would just get black bars if you run in windowed mode and that wouldn't help with aspect ratio.

These were just changes in game files. Nothing with Windows or Nvidia.

Ok i will try again . I was running windowed mode before

edit: I tried but when i go fullscreen it goes back to 2560x1080 only when i hit alt+tab i can see a 2500x1080 window . I also take screenshot after i set 2500x1080 but still says 2560x1080. i can make a windowed mode game 2500x1080 but then it reverts back  and cannot stretch it to fit the whole screen. I have amd graphics card and tried with the scaling option

I tried again and I used 2440x1440 so it is more evident that the aspect ratio is off. Again using full screen mode and the game was running fine. I tried alt-tabbing out of the game and back to game. While out of the game the game screen was indeed a window of 2440x1440 with windows desktop visible on the edges of screen. When I alt-tabbed back to the game it went back to full screen and it was looking stretched.

Only problem I noticed was that the game fps was capped at 60 but at my native resolution 3440x1440 the refresh rate is 100Hz and fps is capped at 100 (Vsync).

Maybe try it without the scaling options. If that doesn't work I don't know how to help you.

Ok i will try again one more question when you go to the game settings in resolution does it show the new resolution or the previous one because when i change full width to 2500 in startup cfg  in settings it still says 2560x1080

Edit: now I have other problem I enabled fullscreen option but cant make it stretch no matter what (alt+enter) even scaling option cant it remains a 2500x1080 window. Any ideas Why is this happening?

Edit2: I managed to do it with the maximise option in task manager

Ok it works finally I have accurate aspect ratio

Nice. Be wary of doing changes in the in-game settings. I bet that this custom resolution doesn't show there and if you change something it might go back to default.

The custom resolution might show up in IL2 settings if you would do a custom desktop resolution first. I don't know about AMD stuff but you can do that with Nvidia. It is the same thing with DSR (Dynamic super resolution) where you use higher resolution than your monitor supports and it gets downscaled and improves image quality. When I have that option selected in my Nvidia settings I can choose higher resolutions in IL-2 settings.
