What I'd really like to see in the future...

A plane set where the two hottest things on the map were a Brewster B239 and a LaGG 4...

Some early war goodness.  Toss in a couple of biplanes and it would be heaven.

Be sure.

So would I, but apparently the majority prefers fast late war aircraft.

Early to mid-war PTO is where it’s at.

If not, then 109E vs Rata etc is OK.

Things largely get less interesting for me the later it gets. There are exceptions, but by and large it’s hard to beat early war aircraft - assuming they’re modeled without any glaring ahistorical problems anyway.

The advantage of adding early war planes like the Hs-123 or I-153 to the game is, that they remained in service for quite a long time and could be used on all eastern front maps we have right now.

The I-153 remaind in use by ground attack unit until late 1943 and the Hs-123 was only retired in 1944.

In an poll that started last year and has almost 600 votes, Battle of Finland is leading over Late eastern front.

Jason mentioned in his birthday thread an Battle of Leningrad was possible.

Leningrad could be an combination of German and Finnish aircraft and the map would be usefull from the moment Finland joins the war (few days after Barbarossa started) till it surrenders (mid/late 1944) + Winter War in 1939/1940.

Planeset would benefit multi theatres of war that have been released and potentional future ones (like France 1940), especially Moscow.

This doesn't mean it will be the next product but it certainly is possible to appear as an new product down the line.

Not to mention that the Brewster, with some weight calculation changes, could be used in early Pacific scenarios.  The Curtiss Hawk 75 fits that as well.

I-153, Hs-123, and IAR-81 were all active in more than one of the already modelled theatres. I'm also fan of the early war (although I'd probably also take a He-162).

The early part of the war would be cool.  During the Blitz of the west like the French Dewoitine D.520Bristol BlenheimDornier Do 17 , Bristol Beaufort,   There's sooooo many....but the early part of the war would be cool!

You might find this thread interesting:

It was fun to write. It'd probably be easier to do an Adriatic/Italian theme FC module though... a lot of French records didn't survive WWII but a lot of Austrio-Hungarian records survived from WWI somehow... that in itself is an interesting puzzle... anyway... I'm getting off-topic in an already off-topic comment...

Someday - I'll probably do a post similar to the one on the battle of France - but for the Adriatic. It is fun theory crafting modules - even if we aren't that likely to get them. Hopefully you'll critique my plane list :)

I think Battle of LEGO Land would win a poll against another tiresome Eastern Front release.

Hmm.... you don't think people want to attack the speedy Tu-2 with 3xUB machineguns firing to the rear?

How would you finish that planeset?

Usually it is 8 aircraft plus two collector planes, so something like:

….Tu-2, La-7, Yak-3, Yak-9 late, P-39Q or P-63? or Il-10?

….Ju-188, Fw-190A9, Bf-109G10, Ju-87D-5?, He-162?

I think there’s more than one plane still that certain segments of the market would like to fly, (Yak-3 for instance) and more than one eastern front map that could be produced. I think those are best handled as DLC at this juncture, as a full release will send too many guys packing. Just MHO of course.

Here is the poll, the results speak for themselves:
