Trooper117 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Has it already been discussed what, if any AI types there will be floating around as we cut about dealing out death and destruction? Transports, trainers, liaison types etc? If you are a Red air force flyer, there should be some Auntie Ju's and FW condors to blast out the sky as they desperately try to resupply the poor old Jerries! Edited June 24, 2013 by Trooper117
Zak Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Has it already been discussed what, if any AI types there will be floating around as we cut about dealing out death and destruction? Transports, trainers, liaison types etc? If you are a Red air force flyer, there should be some Auntie Ju's and FW condors to blast out the sky as they desperately try to resupply the poor old Jerries! It has been mentioned in the previous diary, I think. In a word, yes, different sorts of AI enemies can be met on the level. Even if you're not flying to accomplish the mission but roaming around in the "suburbs". There're chances to meet an "innocent" recon plane or to be attacked by an unexpected boom-zooming Fw. In case if there were any Fw's on the territories were you fight with this or that regiment(s). 1
Bearcat Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Will we be able to set AI levels for individual planes in a flight.. Say hypothetically if I wanted to make the flight leader a veteran, his wingm,an average and second element leader a veteran and his wingman a rookie.. Will I be able to do that?
FlatSpinMan Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I think Troop was asking whether there will be AI only planes in the game. We know the list of flyables, but that doesn't include the Ju52 or Fw200, so are there plans to include them to fully develop the target plane set? BC - I imagine you could. The original IL2 had that capability and I think even RoF's QMB does, doesn't it?
AndyJWest Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 As far as RoF is concerned, 777 Studios has never produced AI-only aircraft, on the basis that proper 3D modelling and FM work involved so much effort that it simply wasn't economical - note that RoF doesn't use 'simplified' FMs for AI. It is possible that BoS will be different, but I've seen nothing so far to suggest that AI-only aircraft are going to be included.
Trooper117 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 You are correct FSM. I was asking about AI only aircraft, not flyable types. I'm hoping that if we are supposed to be interdicting the Germans large resupply effort, then at least it will include the major transport types that were used.
Jason_Williams Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Guys, All planes in the game are flyable, right now we don't have any plans for AI only aircraft at launch. Future is unknown. Final plane-set is still being determined. I also want to remind everyone that with our shortened development cycle and current budget, we are forced to make decisions that not everyone will like. Which is a constant issue, but I also want to remind you that this is just the beginning of a longer road. Or at least we hope it to be. Jason
Bearcat Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 From where I sit this is a next gen IL2 so it is wide open and the future looks bright. I think that unlike so many other offerings that have cropped up over the past 5 years the future of this project barring some unforseen economic disaster or act of God is largely in the hands of us thew customers.. but I think in this case we will get a better return... Even with a limited plane set I have great expectations with BoS but they are realistic..
Matze81 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 ... or to be attacked by an unexpected boom-zooming Fw ... All planes in the game are flyable ... Since nobody says anything, it's either old news or I might misunderstand, but doesn't that mean we're gonna get a flyable Fw-190? That would be AWESOME! (Please tell me I'm right, Please tell me I'm right, Please tell me I'm right ...)
Zak Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Since nobody says anything, it's either old news or I might misunderstand, but doesn't that mean we're gonna get a flyable Fw-190? I didn't mean that, just sort of a figure of speach
Trooper117 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Ok Jason, thats certainly clarified things I'm still not sure how the game will accomplish 'Phase 3' in the campaign, the 'Air Bridge' component if the required aircraft that took part in it are not represented, but such is life. Time for a rethink! 1
csThor Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm still not sure how the game will accomplish 'Phase 3' in the campaign, the 'Air Bridge' component if the required aircraft that took part in it are not represented, but such is life. Quoted for truth. 2
Trooper117 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Having said that, there was still a large He111 component to the air bridge operation, so I'm assuming they will represent that phase with just those. Realistically we won't get all the different types represented in the Germans operation to resupply the 6th army. There was the Ju.86, the Heinkel 177, as well as all the Ju.52's , He111's and Fw.200's.
Matze81 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I didn't mean that, just sort of a figure of speach Darn it! I thought I was on to something! Thanks for answering Zak!
1CGS LukeFF Posted June 28, 2013 1CGS Posted June 28, 2013 BC - I imagine you could. The original IL2 had that capability and I think even RoF's QMB does, doesn't it? Yes, ROF does.
FlatSpinMan Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Cheers, Luke. Thought it did but haven't had much game time recently.
