cardboard_killer Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 [80 years ago today] "• After three years of tinkering with prototypes, the Reichsluftfahrtministerium signs a contract with Blohm und Voss to produce twenty BV-141 observation aircraft. The fuselage contains the engine while the crew are in a separate cupola. It fulfills a requirement for a fast and maneuverable observation aircraft with optimal visual characteristics. Luftwaffe senior officers are never comfortable with the unconventional layout and will go with the Focke-Wulf 189 for mass production despite the Fw-189 being slower with less than half the range."
