It doesn't take a crazy amount of G for the wings to come off, though. Around 8.5G, give or take.

Max static RPM (measured with plane stuck in muddy terrain and full positive elevator) on the Fokker D.VIII is higher than on the Fokker Dr.I, which suggests its higher top speed in level flight is at least partially due to either an RPM limit on the Dr.I's UR.II or a different propeller and not just a reduced drag profile.

I suppose we'll never know whether our pre-emptive griping had any effect.  I just threw-together a quick ground demo.

In RoF it was the only plane with all-wooden wings in game. I suspect we have Lavochkin planes to thank for.

Considering it was used on the german side, it would have been "Wilhelm Wood", to be correct!

To be MORE correct., or in short, it should be “Little Willie wood”.    It may not have the “Heineken effect”, reaching the parts that others can’t, but at least it’s guaranteed to be as ‘ard as nails. If that doesn’t stiffen the resolve of Central plays, I have a large supply of little blue pills that I’ve never needed and I’m happy to parachute in, if they give me a chute in return.  Honest !
