Question for the game Devs: AMD FSR support

Any questions related to AMD land in a black hole.

Nobody in the development team wants to talk about AMD graphics cards.

The monster 6900xt is being outperformed by two generation old Nvidia cards in this game.

They don't even fix basic AMD issues, do you expect them to implement new AMD technology?

Keep dreaming.

In the past it seemed Nvidia were much more willing to work with GB team at driver level, I guess the situation remains the same

this is really sad i was considering a 6800XT it's way cheaper, around 650$ cheaper than a 3080Ti and have more Vram.

The 6800XT vs 3080Ti isn't a fair comparison - apart from VRAM, the 3080Ti consistently outperforms the 6800XT. The 6800XT performance-wise is much closer to the 3060Ti or 3070Ti, both of which are slightly cheaper where I live.

All the games I've played that have FSR support have been underwhelming for me compared to DLSS. The ghosting/motion blur is pretty awful and I definitely don't want to deal with that every time I move my head and try to ID a target in VR. meanwhile the newest versions of DLSS are amazing. Played through God Of War recently and completely forgot I had it set to quality, it was that good. Spider-Man is a similar story, aside from a little bit of flicker in the clouds you couldn't tell it was on.

Yeah dlss is proprietary and that sucks for people without rtx cards, but its just that much better. If they're only gonna implement one, it should definitely be Nvidia's offering.

the 3080 Ti always ahead of the 6800XT by 10 to 15 FPS, but does that justify paying 650$ more just for it ?

am not asking for FSR or DLSS, i just wish the devs would take a 2nd look at it, with up coming RTX 4000 you would need a loan to buy one (if the scalpers didn't get to it first).

am trying to upgrade to a 4K monitor and was looking for best GPU with a lot of Vram so i wouldn't need upgrade for the longest time possible and it wouldn't brake the bank.

thanks

Well, of course I can't see inside your wallet :)

I guess the price depends on your location; where I live the 6800XT is upwards €850 or so, while the 3080Ti is upwards €1100. With the USD and EUR approximately of equal value, that's a difference of $250 rather than the $650 you mention. Especially if you're going for a GPU that'll go for a long time, I'd choose the 3080. But again, I don't know about your financial situation so for you the balance may be different.

My experience with AMD cards is that they're less well supported overall (not just in IL2), and their drivers sometimes have strange quirks that lead to all kinds of strange effects or sub-par performance. AMD are doing interesting things with their CPU line, but in the high-end graphics department they've, at least IMHO, lost to NVidia.

One interesting thing is that the RTX 4000 series likely won't be much more expensive that the 3000 series. According to NVidia themselves, the 4080 will sell at €1099, which is exactly the same price as the cheapest 3080Ti I could find (caveat: with a 2min search). Of course, it might start with some inflated prices as the initial demand may be high, but once the dust has settled down, it should have roughly the same retail price. So you won't need a loan to buy one ;)
