Could you have done anything differently, with hindsight? Tried landing a little further inland where the sand may have been drier and harder?

Not really, sand was waay soft, I dont think I could have made it if I landed further towards the drier sand, maybe it could have been even worse turning the plane over on its back.

The sight of the plane on this tiny boat made me most uncomfortable. Glad you guys along with the bird made it back.
