Further to my initial 109 G2 skin attributed to Wilhelm Crinius. I found an alternative version that I never finished. Again it is speculative as I cannot find any original period photos and only very diverse profiles. However, as it is one of my favourites, I figured I would bring it up to date and more inline with other profiles. It is far from definitive however as most profiles show a generic green mottle. I am not sure if that was derived from an artistic rudder replica as the actual aircraft (including the rudder) was lost in the mediterranean sea. Any existing original period photos would be very welcome and I will be happy to update the skin again accordingly.

Presumably Crinius survived the war? What did he do after? Did he disgrace himself by association with wanted war criminals like Rudel did?

Later life

After World War II, Wilhelm Crinius worked in private industry, serving as a director in the German branch of the Dutch Philips GmbH. He was appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Ernst Düllmann GmbH in 1971. On 18 June 1989, as a pensioner, Crinius ran for the European Parliament in Hesse as candidate for the right-wing German People's Union (Deutsche Volksunion). He died on 26 April 1997 in Stuhr-Fahrenhorst, Lower Saxony.

That’s more or less how a very good quality period photograph would look like. The profile artists then interpret that into colour using a huge amount of guess work using a very imprecise RLM colour chart and taking into account local paint availability, mixing and fading. (In my opinion Claes Sundin is the best at doing this) The margin for error is huge and interesting is as good as it gets. Finally the skinners try and bring it into the game. Oh nearly forgot, at the end of the process you get to do a critique as a reward for the effort. So thank you for taking an interest.
