Discussion of C-47 Pre-Order and Li-2, Snipe and SS.D.DIV Plans.

As the 2 WW1 planes get new FMs, will the rudder problem, that has been corrected in all WW2 planes, be gone there as well ? (other FC planes still have the rudder/roll problem of the old Rise of Flight FM)

Great we get the C47 !!

Guys, what kind of plane are they doing? The announcement says C-47A, but in the picture is mix DC-3 and C-47B. Their pits are very different ... Why does the plane have a tail from the DC-3? All C-47s had a glider trailer, so their tails was cut off. The planes in historical photos with uncut tails, ordinary DC-3s, which were called up for military service by the government.

Looks like it was you having a tough time with your disappointment, but yes, many people are actually delighted to be receiving these updates.

Which, you will notice, is exactly what I said originally.....so your angst is misplaced. Celebrating for all you lot who are getting something you've wanted for a long while.....it ain't drivel.

Can't win for losing it would appear :scratch_one-s_head:

Jason, I was sort of kidding in my previous post that included reference to C-47’s used back in the 1950’s film “ The Thing from another World” but since have given it some thought and would like to ask if there is a chance that we might have the option for a snow ski equipped C-47 or Li-2 ? After all with all the snow on various maps it seems like a sort of no-brainer ?

all ww1 aircraft seem to have ski setups for both snow and really muddy fields.  skies went around the wheels.

wonder how big a bomb the C47 will end up with, bigger then stuka i hope..

Although from cockpit views, it looks like its going to NEED trackhat to fly

Probably the C-47A, since that's what's in the game as an AI object right now.

Just bagged mine (having used up my first shot at buying one yesterday as a gift).

I recently enjoyed some blockade-running in the Tante Ju, and I'm totally ready for some Dakota based gameplay.

A few years ago I met a Mosquito veteran who told me he was seconded to Transport Command to make up the numbers for Market Garden. He told me that they operated armed Dakotas with beam guns amongst the transport formations. To this day I don't know what to make of that. I've never read, or heard anything to that effect elsewhere. I regret not having made the effort to record the man's story (or take his contact details).

Has anyone heard a similar story?

Still remember the DC-3 flight Chicago to Milwaukee I took as a youngster.  Fast forward and now I'm working on building a 1/3 scale Siemens Schukert D IV RC model so this update announcement was a huge exciting surprise!   Preorder on the way.

4 Battle of Normandy aircraft (with another 1 scheduled for June) and 1 Flying Circus Vol.2 aircraft (with another 1 scheduled for June) have already been released so far.  Or are you on Steam?

One of our flying friends lives in Maine and has seen the Folsom DC3 float plane fly and land on water several times.

Pity it may not fly again, but understandable with it's operating costs.

Great news! I'll buy the WWI birds as soon as they become available!

In the Luftwaffenmuseum at airfield Berlin-Gatow (can be reached by bus from Berlin Central Station) they have a magnificent SSW D.III or D.IV replica. That was some five years ago but I suppose it is still there. They also had a very beautiful Junkers D.I (metal monoplane, WWI) replica. I would love to see that plane in FC as well. I would even be willing to sponsor development in some way.

We got it four new toys for the kids planes. I not see the "B-25 Mitchell" and the "B-26 Marauder" as flyable marked

They did change a lot of Stuff around in the WWII Hangar, including a Casa He-111 hanging in the middle.

Also a Junkers D.I

Pretty excited to see the C-47 flyable, definitely something I'd play with once in a while.

I'm sure I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, But is anyone else a little disappointed that the LI-2 is gonna be sold separately? Sure they're technically different planes but it seems to me like it'd be better suited to have the LI-2 changes be a mod for the C-47.  The transport community is pretty small, and for most of us these are just gonna be things that we fool around with once in a blue moon, not something a lot of people would be willing to buy twice. At that point I'd rather just put a USSR skin on the C-47 and proxy it.

I'm all for supporting the devs, Eventually I'd probably buy both (probably not the LI-2 until it goes on a big sale) But I don't see these selling well to the masses as 2 different collectors items.

Only tested with Edo floats as I recall, not fielded.

The changes are quite substantial, different engines, cockpit + many more (guns/turret/bombs) it would not be possible to be just a mod to the C-47,

Personally am very happy that they plan to do both..

Li-2 will really just be beer money, take it or leave it, and you can just use the C-47 with soviet skin if you want, they were used as well, lend lease

Purchasing is of course optional, but I think it (Li-2) will be a big seller, historically used everywhere in the east often as bombers and paras as well as transport.

Cheers, Dakpilot

Last summer they put it on the floats and were working on the engines.   Not sure if it’s going to fly.  I’ve heard that the interior is not in good shape.

Cool!  Hope they can keep it flying.

Interesting to note that the Li-2 will be the first bomber (sort of) offered as a collector plane.

No hate needed, your just wrong, which is ok.  There's been polls asking for these for a few years now and I think were was even an appreciation thread basically asking for these two aircraft since the JU-52 came out.  They'll sale, even if they are separate.  the Li-2 is different enough (as described in the announcement post) to warrant it being a separate aircraft.

Well its my opinion, so no its not wrong even if its unpopular. its just a differing opinion, one which I wanted to voice. No need to be an ass about it.

Another exciting announcement!  Fantastic to see these transports on the way - one for each theater, each with its own unique traits!  Nice to start learning about the Li-2.  I never realized just HOW different it is from the C-47.  The education aspect of this sim is something I really appreciate.

Brand new collector planes for FC is really cool too.  Those were quite the surprise & I really like the choices.

C-47 purchased, and the others will snapped up as soon as they're available.  Thank you team!!

This plane will be a challenge to make as references are tough to come by and we don’t believe any original examples survive today. However, we love a good challenge and plan to make this bird take flight just like all the rest.

When I think about it like that, based on the above sentence about SSD. IV - it would be possible to make Japanese aircraft for the PTO in a similar way?

Anyone else getting excited about flying the C-47 and recreating D-Day and Market Garden?

I also enjoyed flying resupply missions online more than I thought, can't wait for more of those with different aircraft for different countries. So cool!
