Only this film fragment really worth seeing.
I watched this film. It is a lie of modern Russian directors about the heroes of that war.

Interesting to note how much some authentic sounding radio chatter can add to a scene.

Looks good: it certainly has a more authentic vibe than most Hollywood drivel these days.

And the plane selection is more interesting too with FW-190s and P-39s.

Yeah, it looks good, hopefully there it'll be available in the states eventually.  The more WWII era air combat themed movies and shows, the better!  I think we'd all prefer less CGI but its unavoidable with so few warbirds around these days, especially P-39s, 109s, 190s and He 111s featured in this movie.  Russian studios are really pushing out the WWII aviation movies it seems, there is this one, there is another one about a downed IL-2 crew and then the crowd funded movie about Lidiya Litvyak that has been slowly being made for the last couple of years:

Beats what comes out of Hollyweird the past two decades, as long as there's a war story and subtitles, the combat scenes are gravy.  Be on the watch for this.

I checked it out.  The sequence above is only a small part of the film. In a second trailer you see them get shot down, go to a concentration camp, become forced labourers and work on constructing a new airfield for the nasties.  They then appear to steal an He-111 and a 109 and dogfight their way back to Russian lines.  I only skimmed it, but there may be a love triangle in there as well.

I watched both trailers now.

First one was more interesting in flight sim terms. It looked reasonably realistic in parts. The less realistic aspects were the way they made it seem as though the wing .30s in the P-39 were doing all the work for the kills. I'd rather see the cannon emphasized, however ineffective it was in reality. 30 cals wouldn't do shit to a Fw-190. One reason La-7s were given 3x20mm is that the standard 2 were found to be less than ideal against the heavily armored 190 Jabos.

The river chase scene is funny to me because just the other day in my career, I did the same to avoid multiple AI on my tail. The other funny part is that the AI was smart enough to not get down on the water with me, unlike the Germans in the clip.

The other questionable part was in the second trailer, how the burning P-39 appeared to show flames coming from the front of the plane. What would be burning there, I don't know.

I feel like a real nitpicker now, but really, a little more historical accuracy wouldn't hurt the excitement factor of air combat at all.

That said, the overall spectacle of the combat was pretty good.

Here are a few "making of" from the movie,  surprisingly or maybe not... "War Thunder" makes an appearance ?

Evidently its loosely based on a real pilot

Didn't watch the movie yet, but I know good who was Michail Devyataev.
This guy was a prisoner in KZ on Usedom. 8.feb.1945 he and 9 other prisoners hijacked He-111 and after 300 km landed behind soviet frontline.

Maybe it will be also interesting - several facts about that incredible flight

- Devyataev's weight after his escape was only 38 kg (84 lbs). I'd call him "walking skeleton" (like all his mates)

- 6 of 10 former prisoners were re-drafted in Red Army and killed in action in 1945 not far from end of war.

- No special or secret equipment was found on belly landed He-111 by soviet couterintelligence. Only standard equipment and MGs. Probably that He-111 was a trainer aircraft

Thanks for the trailer. Doesn´t look too shabby. Better than the Redtails crap. I would be watching this. Is it available somewhere on DVD, Blueray or as an online Stream?

The scores are not high for this movie, even lower than T34 that was OK.

https://www.kinopoisk.ru/film/1249213/

It seems like for the past years Russian War movies tend to rewrite history.
For example at the end of T34 movie the Soviet tank commander tries to save the SS Tank commander from death giving him his hand, while in reality any SS soldier would be killed on sight by any Soviet soldier.

In addition the newest movie that came out named "Zoya" about a spy woman that was brutally killed by Germans shows a Russian man in the film that in reality helped capture her, but in the movie they portrayed him as a good guy.

Buy yeah if you are into CGI maybe we can enjoy this movie because T34 had amazing CGI scenes.

You see a lot of lame crap come out of Hollywood. Who ever made this movie clip brought some realism.

seems just like the experience you get from multiplayer games in Il2.

Not sure I'd use the term "re-drafted". The NKVD didn't really believe their story about how they escaped and sent the officers to jail and the non-officers to penal battalions where 5 of them died as all those guys in the penal units were totally expendable and suffered horrendously high casualty rates. Devyatayav himself was branded a criminal until 1957 even though the escapees brought some info of the V1 & V2 programs. It wasn't until 1957 that he was given the Hero of the Soviet Union medal.

As I know - no. That was a regular rifle unit.

And all of them went in combat units voluntarily, while could be in hospitals untill war's end.

btw - the most of feedbacks I've read about this movie in ru-internet were negative. 90%

Brits did not do it?

I am on the firm belief that many of the issues in the UK today can be directly traced to many folk of a certain age confusing the 1969 movie 'The Battle of Britain' with the 1940 event, The Battle of Britain.

You laugh, but I'm really not joking!

For the record Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS were not any better either.

TBH, I'd argue that they were worse. The Dirlewanger Brigade's atrocities are sickening to even read about, while numerous Wehrmacht orders and decrees show that OKW's goal on the Eastern Front was no less than total extermination.

That's not to deny that there were good Germans during WWII, but sadly they weren't the ones in charge of anything.

On the other side of the coin, crimes committed by the Allies (western and eastern) should also be remembered, and I agree that any attempts to whitewash them should be called out.
