dresamAsam71 Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Hello. I bought Cliff Of Dover about 5 years ago in the CD version, not through Steam, and a few months ago Tobruk from the il2 Sturmovik website, not through Steam either. I don't understand why I have to be logged into Steam to start the game. I know there is offline mode - which from what I understand only allows me to play offline. What I am asking is if I can completely disassociate myself from Steam, since I have made the purchase directly from the developers' store. Greetings.
Thundercracker Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Afraid not, steam is required for play as it handles the games updates.
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted May 25, 2021 Team Fusion Posted May 25, 2021 You need to start STEAM to play the game. You can turn off STEAM Cloud, STEAM sync, STEAM overlay and all the other STEAM garbage and still run the game, but you need the basic STEAM to do the following: - Run the game - Get Updates Assuming you turn off all the other stuff, basic STEAM is not intrusive... other than updating itself. It is important to get the updates... they will fix bugs, and also will give you the big Visual Update we are planning... That will include: - trueSKY updated cloud and weather system - 4k cockpits and externals - 4k ground textures - VR Implementation - Improved distance viewing for ground objects and terrain (fixes distant 'popup' effect)
