simpit1 Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 I was surprised to find no problem report concerning updating the OS to Win 10 except of an ectensive thread in the German forum. Due to new updates in DCS I was forced to upgrade win 7 to win 10. Since updating to Win 10 I noticed a deep impact of performance of the Sim (BoS, BoB, BoK ….). I get 20-30 fps instead of 50-60 fps in all situations, microstuttering and a constant slow motion effect in all situations with the same settings in IL2 as before. Then I reduced the sight range from ultra (no proplems in Win 7) to 70 km – no effect. All drivers are actual and fit for Win 10. Think about swithing back to Win 7 on separate SSD ☹️
simpit1 Posted May 23, 2021 Author Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) Hi Six, yes, only a upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10. Microsoft promissed no problems! ? Have a second SSD (500 GB) with a clean Win 10 installation. Is there a risk to loose the IL2-modules by installing Il2 on another SSD? Edited May 23, 2021 by simpit1
simpit1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Sorry, think this concerns only the DCS-modules. A clean installation is just running. Be exciting wether this will fix the bug. Edited May 25, 2021 by simpit1

Think about swithing back to Win 7 on separate SSD ☹️ No, there should NOT be any issues, as Win 10 (despite what many meme around and want to believe and quite aggressively disseminate) use more of any somewhat contemporary hardware and in a more efficient (sometimes even effective) way. To get any usefull feedback on your issues you have to share your IL-2 settings, some coordinates of your hardware (RAM, GPU with VRAM, CPU, drivetype, VR 0/1, all incl speeds) and be honest about if you have your systemtray under control. But just a a simple baseline bereft of any information - you might have had settings in Win7 activated that actually did not do anything... and now with WinX actually started using GPU ressources and CPU cycles. Although IL-2 is incredibly lightweight (I still have it running on my old HDD on my beyond EOL hamstersystem at High++, while I have to seriously tweak around in "the other product") for what it offers - a USP 1C/777 fails to focus on - it is also once again akin to "the other product" in being not really multicore and multithread optimized. But again, without actual settings and system info, there will be no valid and valueable feedback possible. Edited May 26, 2021 by [_FLAPS_]RogoRogo
simpit1 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 (edited) @Rogo: Sorry, cannot make out what you want to say???!! Installed IL2 in a brandnew Win 10 environment - and it works great now. I have constant fps of the target rate 60!!! Even Thrustmaster TARGET works now without bugs. Next phase is to install DCS and, I hope so, also in this sim the running problems will be solved. What we learn is: It seems to be unpossible to drive the sim after upgrading Win 7 to Win 10 - only a clean installation is suitable! One question at least: Is there any way to start the sim in a auto-login mode. Now I have to switch the IL2-Icon, then appaers a start-screen on which I have to click on "Game Start" and after loading a second screen with a green bottom "Start" have to click a third time to login: 3 steps to start the the sim - why???? ? simpit1 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Hi Six, yes it works with good fps and runs fluently. Only one case is a little silly: After creating a mission with more then 12 enemy-aircrafts the first time the sim runs like in slow motion until half o the enemy- AC are destroyed. This strange phenomenon I already had under Win 7.
