Welcome fellow pilots! One question from a novice.

Hello there!

Im so glad to finally be here. Been ''playing'' IL, or been trying, on a gamepad since 1946 one. Never got that far in anything but always wanted to get into a hobby proper.

Since i'm finally financially stable I can stop playing TIE Fighter with an PS4 controller etc. Got myself a stick, decided to go with it and get best entry level - VKB G. NXT. 

Im loving it so far during flights and finally am able to take off and land (second one mostly, usually its propeller first and then the rest).

 

My question to you fellow pilots is that is there a way to just practice taxing, taking off and landing without? Like a practice mode or something? I wanted to try the full plane startup but campaigns always start me already on a runway and with engine warmed up.

Try the Quick Missions. You can select one of the icons that show a single plane. Select which plane you want to fly. Then adjust it to be set up for starting as parked rather than runway or in the air.

  This server has takeoff and landing practice areas.

If you don't mind flying Spitfire Vb you could also try the official Achtung Spitfire campaign as first couple missions are some sort of introduction (+ you usually start parked).

 

Personally I was practicing ground handling in Quick Missions, same method as HansBlitz mentioned.
