J15_Gontermann Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Good afternoon, All! It is my pleasure to announce that the Jagdstaffel 15 is recruiting once again! Do you enjoy working as a member of a team? Do you have a deep love for WWI aviation history? Do you find pleasure in shooting at Entente machines? Do you walk outside and look to the skies on a sunny day and think to yourself, "Yes. Today would be a wonderful day to fly."? Do you want to achieve succes in flying and score a good streak? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you are a perfect candidate for a member of the virtual Jasta 15. HistoryThe "Jasta" was formed on 28 September 1916 at Rixheim, from Kampfeinsitzer Kommando Habsheim, FFA 48 and FFA 68. It mobilized on 9 October 1916 and was demobilized in November 1918 at FEA 14 in Halle an der Saale, Germany. During the entire war, Jasta 15 scored more than 150 victories losing only 11 pilots. Historically the unit was founded with Fokker D.IIs and Fokker D.IIIs. In 1917, it operated Albatros D.IIIs and Albatros D.Vs. Later, it used Fokker Dr.I triplanes and some Siemens-Schuckert D.IIIs. Their final mount was the Fokker D.VII. Throughout the war in the ranks of Jasta 15 served 15 aces including Ernst Udet (Second highest scoring German ace of the first world war), Joseph Veltjens, and Georg von Hantelmann (Who shot down David Putnam at the time of his death the American ace of aces) ^ Hantelmann's first victory by Iain WylieAbout usWe are a historical recreation-based unit, meaning we focus on loosely "reenacting" Jasta 15 as it was over 100 years ago, we take our Virtual Lives seriously, we have a defined chain-of-command, we also care about the ground personnel of Jasta 15. With all that being said, we are, first and foremost, out to have a good time! We are exclusively WW1-based. Our squadron's main aircraft is the Fokker D.VIIf. Although it's our main machine we also fly Pfalzes, Albatrosses, and Triplanes. ^Standard paint scheme of a Fokker Dr.1 from Jasta 15After you joinAfter joining Jasta 15, you will start off with the rank of Gefreiter for your initial training.
