Field-Ops Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Planes with hand cranked landing gear dont make sense to me that a single button press makes the landing gear retract or extend. It makes more sense to me that you would have to hold the deploy button like you would with flaps on most planes. 1

I dont see it being too difficult as flaps for different planes have different operation already. See the Mig and P51. Same with radiators and mixture controls. I think in terms of age a plane like the i16 had during its WWII use it would create more pilot workload compared to its competition, which is good for a representational standpoint of the aircraft itself. It required workload that put it at a big disadvantage during takeoff and landing especially when under attack. The limitation to the user (pilot) themselves on getting off the ground is a direct comparison to the real aircrafts operation and I think falls in line with the direction the company is going with representation of aircraft. More real, less "forgiving" so to speak with ease of access or balancing.
