FlatSpinMan Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Tonight I was looking for a link to some pictures from an old campaign I made for Il2. That prompted all sorts of memories and so I went on a bit of search of old threads and pictures from when I used to make campaigns. It really brought back a lot of great memories, and some of the threads were really enjoyable to read. People seemed more relaxed and tolerant then, was one impression that struck me. Anyway, whenever I think about my old campaigns I am invariably drawn to the incredible After Action Report that Dart made about one of my campaigns "Luftwaffe Pilot: Afrika!". I really hope that I get the chance to make a campaign in this new Il2 that could inspire someone to produce such a great response. Things like this were such a lift for mission builders and skinners in the old IL2 precisely because we got feedback from users. I really hope BoS can recapture some of that generosity of spirit and shared sense of joy in playing the sim. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2278237/all/Afrika_41_Campaign_IL_2_1946.html 2
Feathered_IV Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I really enjoyed that Afrika campaign. It's a very good one to play through again too. I also very fondly remember your BoB campaign Extreme_One. I remember leaving my dial up computer on all night, back in 2003 so I could download it at a whopping 51mb. Everyone else had the same idea and SimNetwork who hosted it crashed shortly after. 1
FlatSpinMan Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 What I really liked about the original was the way you'd get threads where people told their stories, people would comment on the latest campaigns to come out, or anticipate ones that were in the works - and there were always so many in the works, on such a range of plane types and theatres. Of course then there were the skinners and movie makers. There was so much creative energy and enjoyment on the forums. I really hope we can get that going again. 1
