Could TFS offer a Mitsubishi Zero with the next module as a collector aircraft?

Simply put, BoX has collector aircraft. How about if CloD offered a Mitsubishi Zero as a collector aircraft for the next module?

I mean it's not like we are getting a Pacific Theatre from BoX anytime soon, CloD already has the Martlet, P40 and the various "islands" maps, so with a Zero available there would be a lot of fun to be had.

No need for bombers, aircraft carriers, official maps.... simply a collector aircraft of a Mitsubishi Zero and watch the money roll in.

Obviously we already have a Wildcat and a P-40 (skins make it when they cloth our exisiting Martlets, Tomahawks and Kittyhawks: click here... and here, you'll see) and we already have one or two "online fictional maps" that could be used as Pacific Islands.

 

So...

 

Hypothesis 1: a Zero won't happen in the Dover series because Jason Williams and 1C Game Studios won't allow such a thing: they keep the Pacific for a potential future "Great Battles" module.

 

Hypothesis 2: a Zero won't happen in the Dover series because TFS cannot add a new plane to model to their currently in-development list of aircraft. It's too much extra work.

 

Hypothesis 3: a Zero won't happen in the Dover series because there aren't collector planes in this series and there never will be.

 

Hypothesis 4: a Zero could happen in the Dover series if it is accepted by 1C Game Studios and TFS that this Zero would be the "extra plane" of the module that is currently under development. Indeed, the Sukhoi 26 was the extra plane in the original "Cliffs of Dover" (there weren't Su 26s during the Battle of Britain) and the Dewoitine D.520 was the extra plane last year in the add-on "Desert Wings - Tobruk" (there weren't D.520s in the Libya-Egypt border neither).

 

So... yes, indeedly indeed my felowy felows, hypothesis 4 is the good one as we together found the "extra plane" in the next Dover series module. Please Buzzsaw do not hesitate to start giving instructions to your teams so that this Mitsubishi A6M2-21 is properly modelled. Thank you in advance, we know we won't be disappointed.

With our limited resources, we need to focus on new aircraft which work with the existing and planned maps.

 

So no, we don't plan on any Pacific Theatre aircraft types.

To clarify:

 

We don't rule out 100% creating perhaps one or two Japanese aircraft in the future if that is cleared with 1C.

 

But that would be in conjunction with other elements which would work those aircraft.

 

So for example, functional Carriers and related systems to allow aircraft to land and takeoff from them in the CoD game engine being already in place.

 

Obviously it is easy enough to create an all sea map which would work for the Pacific as well as Europe.  (with minor colour changes)

 

And a Japanese Carrier would not be difficult... along with some escorting Cruisers/Destroyers.

 

However, these elements are not currently planned for TF 6.0 and would be behind other European Theater additions for later modules...  so we are talking quite a bit in the future.  (more about the new module in our upcoming Press Release... no date as yet)

Peter Larry created a cool looking for the Macchi 202 to create a faux Ki-61. against the Martlet it would give a cool environment to fly in

I prefer not to fly "fake" planes... sorry chap... It's not I'll not do it any more, it's not I can't stand it... maybe it's simply because I'm getting old (I'm into flight sims for over 29 years now) and, as a consequence, I think I'm becoming more and more demanding.

 

PS: I don't know who was on board this "Hien" but he forgot to untick the "show markings" box...

I believe this too has potential, in regards to "a" collector aircraft. The idea seems to work quite well with other developers. 

A collector aircraft by its self could just highlight the potential interest it may draw alone.  Also possibly assist with the funding for an unrelated theatre that may already be in the works?

I would buy a Zero, just for the sake of having the pleasure to fly one!

It will happen one day - a WWII Pacific theatre of war for 'Great Battles'. Pics from the original il2 Sturmovik showing some Japanese aircraft, with an emphasis on the Zero.

 In all fairness to Jason and the team, hopefully a 'WWII Pacific theatre of War' is being planned for the future - lets concentrate on making the Normandy campaign really something. For your information, I have listed below each Japanese aircraft type, from top to bottom in the pics - and where they where operating in my missions, in the following list.

1. A Nakajima Hayate Ki.84-1a shooting down a USAF B24 over the Philippines.

2. A Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero Model 52c protecting the Japanese Fleet off the Philippines.

3. A Nakajima Hayate Ki.84-1a protecting Japanese 'Betty' torpedo bombers attacking the US Fleet off the Philippines.

4. A Mitsubishi A6M3 Model 32 Zero flying on a 'Kamikaze mission' against the US Fleet off Leyte - the Philippines.

5. A Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero flying over Pearl Harbour.

6. A Mitsubishi A6M3 Model 22 Zero escorting Mitsubishi 'Betty' bombers on their way to bomb Port Moresby, New Guinea.

7. A Aichi D3A1 'Val' dive bomber successfully bombing a fuel tanker in Rebaul Harbour, New Britain.

8. A Nakajima B5N2 torpedo bomber attacking US Battleships on 'Battleship Row' Pearl Harbour.

DFLion, that would be BoX.... this CloD which as has been pointed out did originally include the Su-26 so there is always hope a bonus aircraft could be added to the pot. 

Seems a Ki61 or Zero would be most welcome

Hey Puma, as stated by Buzzsaw, this won't happen in version 6.0... Thus, this Pacific "pack" (or "module", or "add-on", or whatever this would be) wouldn't happen before version 7.0 if we are lucky (2025 ?) or maybe even not before version 8.0 (2030 ?).

 

At any rate, Puma and DFLion, that would be lovely if both families of IL-2 fans (Great Battles and Dover) saw the release of a Great Battles Pacific module AND and Dover Pacific add-on... both  of them in 2025 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of 1945.

If GREAT BATTLES decides to go to the Pacific, then Team Fusion will not be doing Pacific content.

 

At this stage the possibility there might be Japanese aircraft added, is by no means a priority.... and as mentioned, requires 1C's permission.
