Used to be one screen to reflect mirror of one eye. 1CGS changed it fairly early on to reflect both eyes, hence two screens.

Not sure why as it is kind of unusual. Most games use the one eye one screen mirror.

It's true. Some weirdos asked for that in 2017, the Devs changed it to be splitscreen, and I've asked a few times to change it to right eye only. However, one time a reason was given "we changed it upon community request to two eyes so that's that now".

No idea what to do, repeating it to them won't help much I guess.

I can't imagine who would have requested this or what reason they'd have to request it. I mean - - - who would look at this game or anything else like that? Just silly. I agree it should be right eye only, that way the LW birds that have gunsights offset to the right display properly. Best case scenario would be a way to select one eye or both. One can only wish.

Thats the whole strange thing about 1C, always writing down about the limited budget, time etc. While on the other hands lots of labor/budget is been burned to minor aspects.

Totally agree with the above, a few asks for a feature no good to anyone and here we are stuck with it.

The split screen annoys me also, what usefulness does it give anyone!

A perfect example of why developers need to stop giving in to the vocal minority. Happens far too often these days, negatively affecting the vast majority who are fine with things the way they were and don't frequent forums.

Ideal solution would be to have the option whether to display mirror of left eye, right eye, or both eyes.

Me too think this would be the perfect solution. I hope devs could be able to put this feature in the next updates ?

Actually, if what you're looking for is just a "normal" view on the monitor that someone else can watch there's a way to do that with SteamVR. Right click on SteamVR at the bottom of your monitor. In the menu that comes up select VR display. When that window opens there's another menu. You'll have a choice of the split screen, right or left eye and better yet, both eyes left or right dominant. These last two blend both eyes and give a better FOV. I'm doing this to capture video but I'd really much rather do it directly from the game and not a separate window.

Unfortunately that doesn't work as it's an incredible resource-killer.

We tried that as well in the past :)

Oh agreed. It does work tho. Just not nearly as well as we'd like it to! That's why I'd rather the game display that rather than resort to using a separate program window. Using Steam at all is bad enough! I'd still be using opencomposite if not for neck safer.

Oculus mirror is far less resource-draining than SteamVR's VR display - at least when used through opencomposite, I've not tried it with SteamVR running as well.
