Your thoughts on my future setup: Gladiator NXT + Logitech Throttle Quadrant

Recommended Posts

Dear experts,

I have some spare credits to spend on a new setup. It's time for my green T.16000 to retire. I'm looking at mid range, nothing fancy.

My 2 options for roughly 270 EUR:

Logitech X56... countless buttons (too many for IL2, but may be nice for DCS), two throttles, QC issues (2 year warranty though), somewhat weird ergonomics and old tech

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium + Logitech Throttle Quadrant... next gen stick, throttle is more meh (not even a proper HOTAS), but it fits nicely with old planes (probably not useful for DCS though). I know TWCS Throttle is usually paired with it, but I am hoping the VKB TECS, if it comes out, will be reasonably priced. Or I go with the cheap Titanwolf Griffin throttle until then.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Good choice on stick with the VKB offering.

Virpil has a pretty nice throttle now - the CM3 if you did not want to wait for VKB's offering.

I have the CM3 and love it.

Virpil builds extremely fine throttles. They also have extremely fine customer support, honor warranties very forthcomingly, and you support a European business.

Yeah I can certainly attest to Virpil's warranty service. I had some stickiness in the mini stick of my new CM3 throttle. It was still quite useable, but bothered me.

I opened up a support ticket, and while initial response took a few days once we started corresponding it went pretty quick.

They gave me the option to return for repair, which I did. They arranged to ship it back via DHL at their expense, repaired it, and had it back in my hands in 2 weeks. Which is exactly what they told me the total turn around time would be.

Working flawlessly now. Extremely satisfied customer here.

Thanks for the feedback.

How is the VKB warranty situaton? Similar to VirPil? Is there even much need for it with the Gladiator NXT?

I have had the VKB Gunfighter Mk 1 Pro, and now the Gunfighter Mk III Pro.

Very pleased with it as well.

I have not had a need to use warranty with VKB to date.
However I did contact them to see if I could purchase a wiring harness for it , the harness in the gimbal. I had managed to break one of the wires, and got it soldered back together. I wanted another harness to have just in case.

They worked with me on on it and sent me the harness for just the cost of shipping.

Get a nice stick from VKB or Virpil or whatever.  You can go cheap on the throttle.  I have an x52 throttle and it works great for $50.00 paired with a VKB Gladiator.  I have around $200 into the setup and it's great.
