Hi fellow pilots,

I mainly fly IL2 in VR and use a center mounted VKB Gunfighter with a Warthog throttle. Now I got my hands on a Honeycomb Bravo which I want to use for additional inputs like cowl flaps, mixture, prop pitch etc (one can never have to many axis, right?). The Honeycomb also has this nice little trim wheel. Its actually no axis, but an encoder that sends a buttonpress if you move the wheel up or down. But I just can not get it to work properly with IL2. If I map it to trim or stabilizer up/down it won't do anything ingame. If I map it to the trim axis it will move, but only a very tiny amount. I suspect that maybe the sent buttonpress is just to short for the game to make a proper input out of it. Is there anybody using a Honycomb and managed to set it up properly (or a similar / self-build trimwheel thats using rotary inputs)?

You might want to look at Joy2Key. It can adjust the length of time that an encoder input is held down.

It should be possible but it's a bit of a minefield:

My home made trim box with 3 encoders works for everything except the A/C with stabilizer angle adjustment.

For the FW190 only buttons will work, in my trim box I use 2 of the encoders press function to achieve this. Not a fully satisfactory solution - the press function on the encoders is a bit coarse, maybe a 4% jump each press. Workable though.

The Bf109 stabilizer requires an axis to operate a wheel so the encoders will not work. Neither would the encoder press. I added a potentiometer which I now use for all A/C fitted with a trim wheel inc the Bf109.

For some reason I have not been able to us an encoder for elevator trim and a pot for stabilizer trim without encountering a conflict. Assigning different keys between elevator trim tabs and adjustable stabs doesn't fix this.

All parts (controller, encoders and pot) were sourced from LeoBodnar

Thanks for your reply! I only testet with the Bf 109 so far. After some tests with other planes it seems you are correct. Planes with trim function work just fine, but I can't get the stabilizer to work. For the FW 190 it's ok since it uses buttons in rl, mapping it to a hat feels more natural anyway for me. But a real pitty for the Bf 109, since the wheel on the Honeycomb would just be perfect for that plane.
