Alky Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I know very little about IL2 Sturmovik other than I bought the Gold Edition and the Pacific fighters quite some time ago. I never really played them, I don't remember why. I don't know anything about Cliffs of Dover and even less of Battle of Stalingrad. So where do I stand, do I need my gold edition and Pacific Fighters as a base, or is BOS a stand-alone product? Will I need Cliffs of Dover? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!
Matze81 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) BoS will be a standalone game. You won't need any other game as a basis to play it. The developers are known for "Rise of Flight", a very good WW1 Sim. An outstanding overview, about what we know so far, provides the following thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.net/topic/146-what-we-know-so-far-battle-stalingrad/?do=findComment&comment=1254 Edit: Almost forgot: Welcome, mate! MineFewer Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 If you have a boot floppy that you used for Aces of the Pacific, hold on to it as it will come in handy.
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Plus have a look for any Red baron 3 save games you might still have, to get a head start on the campaign. Edited June 23, 2013 by Furbs
FlatSpinMan Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Jokes aside, Matze81 is the man to listen to. IL2 Battle of Stalingrad is a completely new game by a merged 1C and 777 Studios team. Cliffs of Dover was a completely separate game made by 1C studios. Official support for it has ended. RoF stands for Rise of Flight. This is a great WW1 flight me produced by 777S.
Bearcat Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 If you want to give IL2 a go see the Nugget's Guide link in my sigand try to get IL2 1946.
Alky Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Thanx for the speedy replies guys. I'm a player of RoF and it is a beautifully done game, if the same quality goes into BOS, it will be an awesome game. I did see a short clip of two BF109's and they were incredible. I'm an old Air Warrior, Warbirds and Aces High player and am very interested in this project. I don't have a Red Baron game although back in the late 80's there was a single player Red Baron game that I had, maybe it had multiplayer, I don't know, I didn't explore that option at the time. Well, I guess I've arrived at the right place to keep abreast of any updates. Thank you all!
Alky Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 If you want to give IL2 a go see the Nugget's Guide link in my sigand try to get IL2 1946. I just had a look at the Nugget's Guide. That's amazing!! I saved that page and will be referencing it when I re-install IL2
