NumeroX Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Hello... I am probably one of your most loyal fanboy... yes I said it fanboy... I eat, sleep and live for this sim and I just discovered that I can easily control my plane using the mouse when gaming on my travel gaming laptop after messing around in the control settings. I am begging the dev team to never remove this feature as it will make the sim unplayable for me when I am away from my desktop! I only use three flight sims and IL2 is at the very top of that list. Thanks a million for this wonderful feature! 2

Zeev Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) Moreover if you have a controller you can control the planes with Xbox One controller, or preferably with PS4 Dualshock and put camera movement on the touchpad so in dogfights you can easily rotate your head. I even find it easier than rotating my head when using Trackir. So yeah, I agree- Big thanks to these developers for putting an option to control the aircraft and vehicles with as much input devices as possible. Edited May 10, 2021 by Zeev 1

How do you map throttle?
co199 Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 4 hours ago, Bilbo_Baggins said: Cool. With the 2 triggers for rudders? How do you map throttle? Left stick on pitch and roll, right stick on head movement, triggers on rudder, RB + LB on throttle. A for guns, B for bombs, Y for rockets, X for brakes, start is pause, select is dealer's choice (I have it on gear). Dpad up for flaps up, Dpad down for flaps down, Dpad left for elevator trim / horizontal stab down, Dpad right for elevator trim / horizontal stab up. Keyboard mappings: I have mixture mapped to +/-, prop mapped to insert / del, water radiator mapped to home / end, oil radiator mapped to pg up / pg down. You won't be competitive in MP, but it's more than playable for SP / CEM. I have auto-rudder turned on, all other assists off except for warmed-up engine. 1

Y/B DPAD: Move camera sideways\forward X/A Drop bombs and fire rockets Side triggers (forgot their names) Move plane sideways or zoom in out, do not remember. Pedals (forgot their names) fire guns. Back (Return camera to default position) I am not sure I mentioned all the controlls accurately (do not have controller in my hands now) so be sure to check all the buttons on your own from a taxi position or something. Touchpad: Using 3rd party software called DS4Windows, make a new profile called IL2 and configure Touchpad to move mouse. (Mouse controls head movement) Attached two files: DS4Windows (IL2.xml) and IL2 controls (inputs folder). Do not forget to backup your inputs folder especially the devices.txt, you will have to configure it manually in order to not map it again, otherwise new controls will have a different controller ID and will be represented in ingame configuration as Joy1 instead Joy0 for example. (Your device will probably be Joy0) Have fun! IL2.zip 20 hours ago, Soilworker said: Don't worry matey, they'd be mad to remove it. ? I will be mad more. And there is always something that is called Regression (when something stops working after code change). Fingers crossed we will never need to ask Devs to fix anything related to controls ? CountZero Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 its important for game to give various options for player to use, i play it on gamepad and nothing is lacking in how it works in this game compared to other flying games, also when i show it off to other players who are not into flying as mutch its easeyer to do so when they already have equipment to play it then telling them you have to buy stick and rudder and so on... 1
Jason_Williams Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 We have never said or suggested taking away our mouse controls. You have nothing to worry about. Glad you are able to play and enjoy it!! Jason 3 2
Avimimus Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I think it is pretty neat that you guys put so much work into adding mouse controls back in the day I've never tried them but it is pretty impressive that they can work with such a realistic and high fidelity sim. I'm glad to hear they work too.
