Nical Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Hi, I was trying to understand how to manage complex engines in the yak-1 ser.69. I was following Chuck's guide and was cruising on a trimmed airplane at 3500m altitude. The guid says that in this situation, I should set my RPM to 1850 and manifold to 850mmHg. I had no problem adjusting the RPM, but with my throttle at 100%, I could not managed to get higher thant 750mmHg. I was at 80% mixture and supercharger 2. I attached a screenshot of the situation. Why can't I get those 850mmHg as stated in Chuck's guide ? Did I missed something to get full engine power?

The Yak-1 supercharger needs to be switched to second stage at around 2000-2500m to maintain full throttle. That's probably why you aren't generating enough power.
Nical Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 As stated above, I was at supercharger gear 2. I might try this again to confirm this fact, but I'm pretty sure about it.
IL2Battle Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Hi, Just fly with Yak-1 ser. 69 and as were on escort mission, this one came in mind and I have a time to make a test. So in 3500m altitude with 1850 rpm and charger state 2, you get about 750 hg, like you notice (100% throttle, mixture 50-100%). To get 850 hg in that altitude, you need to raise the rpm to about 2200. Your max alt. with 1850 rpm and 850 hg will be about 2700m. So I don't think you have done anything wrong or forget anything, it's just limitations of the engine.
