Heywooood Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 There were three of these in San Diego, down on the harbor between the cruise ship terminal and Coronado....then Red Bull decided to relocate our event to NYC for more revenue. Those events were special - heats lasted for 4 days with qualifiers on day one and two and elimination rounds on days three and four... We went to the Coronado ferry boat landing and standing there at that pier - the planes came straight across the harbor, down on the deck at full throttle - right at your face, before hooking hard left for a knife edge pass through a gate not 50 yards away to the right. I sure do wish we still had this event in SD - incredible flying - and all of it less than 50 feet in the air and at near 200 kts average speed
JtD Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Yes, they are great. Last time I went they also made flybys with their WW2 warbirds.
