343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 My headset is definitely broken and I have to replace it. In order not to have to change headsets anymore (I've bought tons of them over the years), this time I'm ready to buy a top-of-the-range headset even if it costs more money. Any advice folks? Thank you in advance!
343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 I'd like to bring a few clarifications to my request: 1) I'm ready to pay up to 200 US dollars for my new mike & audio headset including the shipping and, if needed, the insurance. 2) The product I'm looking for has to have high quality wires. Cheap headsets always end up with wire connections broken or malfunctionning. I know there are wireless Bluetooth headsets, but I don't want a battery in my headset, I'm anti-battery because after a while the battery has to be replaced and if it's not in the market anymore... you got screwed. 3) Apparently there are headsets that connect to the PC via a USB plug and integrate their own sound card chipset... what are these headsets worth? Do you chaps have an opinion on them? 4) As it is, my sound card output is compatible with this kind of jacks (thus, please, not the kind of a PS4 sound output). In short, a classic mike & sound arrangement:
palker4 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 On the topic of USB headsets and sound cards: I had some headsets from Creative and currently have an external soundcard from the same vendor and I can tell you my experience has been horrible. Every now and then the sound would get completely garbled and microphone would stop working and I had to unplug the headset and plug it back again. Same goes for the sound card. For a really long time I have been using KOSS SB45 headset and it worked great and still does I just stopped using it to move to better headphones. Currently I use Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones with dedicated mic. which I guess is outside of your price range but that is the way to go high end headset with dedicated microphone.
343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 (edited) Thank you Palker. As I said "I'm ready to pay up to 200 US dollars". Is this "DT990" more expensive than $200? But still, what is "DT990"? A line of products or a specific model? Edited May 8, 2021 by 343KKT_Kintaro Plaker -> Palker
palker4 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I mean this https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/dt-990-pro.html Looks like they are cheaper now cause I bought them for about 200$ few years back. the trouble with them is no microphone so you need to buy a dedicated microphone. I guess if you bought some cheap mic it might work within your budget. Anyway what you should do is go on website of electronics vendor in your country with good filtering. Define your requirements and look what options you have and read reviews/opinions online to see what is best for you. I can only tell you my limited experience with my headphones and mic.
YR-DAN55 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Hi, I have been using a SOUND BLASTER X H5 set for three years or more and I am very satisfied. Before I had a Turtle Beach Z60 with a USB sound card, I gave up because it created problems for me during the game.it disconnected and I had to restart the game
Mysticpuma Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) I have found the steel series sturdy, reliable and excellent and if cables are an issue then try the wireless option : SteelSeries Arctis 9 Dual Wireless Gaming Headset STEELSERIES Arctis Pro + GameDAC 7.1 Gaming Headset Edited May 8, 2021 by Mysticpuma
343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 8, 2021 Author Posted May 8, 2021 palker4, thank you, but I want the audio and the mike are all-in-one. Dan55, thank you, this "SOUND BLASTER X H5" matches very well what I'm looking for. I'm considering the purchase of this product seriously. Puma, thank you but... this ArctisPro seems to be really expensive, somewhere between 250 and 300 dollars. An excellent product with no doubt, but too expensive nevertheless. I've heard something about a brand named "JBL"... Does anybond have something to say about the JBL headsets? Any advice?
56RAF_Stickz Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 I use steelseries elite prism. Built in microphone. Not wireless, has good cables although they are a bit short, and usb convertor interface. Its the most robust I have used for cabling and build. However I do only use it for teamspeak and audio. I dont play the game sound through it so sound quality is not a big deal - I mean I dont really know how good that it as I play in game via a dedicated sound system. It also has a stupid lighting system (I just want a headset not a disco) rather like the idiotic flashing PC RAM lights. The difficult bit is a wide headband, its a real fiddle to fit a trackir to it securely as it is too wide and very thin.
343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 8, 2021 Author Posted May 8, 2021 Thank you Stickz. I use a cap and a classic clip for my TrackIR, thus in my case, the visor in the cap receives the clip, not the headset. I guess you use a clip pro... do you?
