JG_deserteagle540 Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Type of improvement: Clean windshield for the Fw190D9 Explanation of proposals: The cockpit glass of the FW190D9 is very dirty and makes it difficult to spot airplanes ahead of you. Benefits: Cleaning the windshield of the FW190D9 before take-off shouldn't be to hard to do IRL 3
JG7_X-Man Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I have been wondering about this myself! Actually, The Bf 109K-4 and the Fw 190D-9 were equipped with a windscreen cleaning mechanism. let's make this happen development team! 1
ZachariasX Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I think that makes "clean" as opposed to "intransparent". Imagine how you cars windscreen would look like if you just sprayed gasoline on it.

Imagine how you cars windscreen would look like if you just sprayed gasoline on it. The hydrocarbon molecules in fuel react with the carbon atoms present in oils and soot to rearrange and breakdown the carbon chains (...that's about all I remember from my Organic Chemistry II university classes LOL). This means there are no windshield wipers needed to smear anything as the prop wash simply blasts the mess away (like the drying phase of running your car through the car wash). This is the same principle of dissolving a plastic bag in gasoline or removing paint from your hands with turpentine - it's just chemistry (which was another thing German engineers were very very good at.)
