Binocular Heading Dial In Compass Gone?

Salute

Has anyone else noticed that previously when you where in the Commanders position and using Binoculars there used to be a little hand on the HUD compass (bottom left) that showed you the direction you were looking.

This now seems to have been removed?

strange... it would be a great idea to have a real compass, it would allow you to travel, gude the cannon, without the hud, it would be a real plus for the realism ... of the simulation

You can and there is.

Panzer 4 top left to driver. You can even set your heading and the compass will help you stay on course.

Sherman to right of driver. Same.

Don’t know other tanks off the top my head.

I'm talking about a compass directly in the hand of the tank commander, giving the order to turn the turret in such direction ... having to go in / out to have the direction ... and the driver's compass is a nice addition, but it would be necessary to associate it with a more precise map, to allow the development of travel skills ...

Hi Moustache, are you referring to multicrew tanks crewed by players?

In the Axis tanks, but not in Allied, there is a visual 12 position clock face system that gives the commander the ability to tell the gunner to rotate the turret in a particular direction. The commander's cupola has clock face numbers marked on it and there is a dial in the gunner's position that is relative to the barrel and the hull position ie. 12 o'clock in the gunner's position means the barrel is pointing forward.

Assuming that the commander is looking through the visors in his cupola it can be seen that the barrel is always at 12 o'clock relative to the commander's 12 o'clock view. Starting with the barrel along the front centre of the hull, he can tell the gunner to rotate to, say, 2 o'clock. So long as the commander interprets the barrel direction relative to the front centre of the hull he can direct the turret turn using the clock face system.

for the order to turn the turret, same, solo, no order for the guner to "turn the turret on 6 o'clock, or at 2 o'clock ..." (moreover will it one day be possible to do keyboard shortcuts for the order in char? a bit like for planes?)

Ah ok. I understand what you are saying. I too would like the commander to have a usable compass in hand. I play mostly multicrew and like to play without HUD if possible.

(Sorry Friar, I don't mean to hijack your original post)

Ah ok.

it's the same for you, or it's a bug of my game?

I don't know that issue, I use TrackIR for all head movement.
