Hello,

had already mentioned it several times, a takeoff at position 2 is also not possible in the new version (at least for me as single player). The flight leader causes constantly an accident, because he searches for the start position. Frustrating right now.

Have to provide more information.  Prefer the zip file created with "report error".  Will make do with you telling me which squadron on what date.

These situations are caused by a combination of AI and airfield.  In no way is your general statement accurate: that you cannot play as #2.  I just did it yesterday.  However, on a particular airfield, on a particular date, under certain conditions, your statement probably is accurate.  I need to know what  those variables are.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I've been stuck in this campaign for a while. I had already reported the problem before.
Anyway, here is the current zip.
Greetings

I submitted a bug report:

i verified that the takeoff position is correct.  It is.  The AI cannot handle takeoff in the snow on some airfields.  i saw this once before.  Different field.  FW190s.  Situation was not as bad.  The AI got it right after a couple of tries.  This one the lead AI just spins out immediately and wrecks the flight.  Tried three times with identical results.

Not sure what I can do except submit the report and provide the mission that you posted.  Hope they fix it.  If others are experiencing the same thing please back up my bug report.  One voice is not going to matter much.  Of a dozen people report the same thing then it might get fixed.

Thanks for the effort.

Hope it leads to something.  it is looking like the AI has developed issues taking off in the snow.   The field in question is a rough field with no defined runway.   In these scenarios I have generally chosen the most clear (not into trees or hills) path that the field offers.  Rough field or no, the planes are absolutely on the  field and not in terrain.   I can speculate all I want as to why the AI spins out on takeoff, but the fact is I do not know.

Two suggestions.  One is transfer to a different unit for awhile.  The second is use air starts until you are either on a new field or the weather clears.  Neither is satisfactory, but I generally refuse to change PWCG due to AI issues.  That just becomes whack-a-mole with every new release of the product.

Very strange thing happened.  I cut the mission down just to the player flight.  The AI took off without issue.  Something odd happening with a large mission?  Maybe the Ai doesn't have the bandwidth it needs to fly the plane?  By the time it gets a slice of CPU time the plane is out of control?

I am honestly  struggling with this one.  However, based on the above, something else that you can try is setting air and ground activity to low and seeing if the AI can take off.  There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the mission, but maybe a combination of factors is causing the AI to go brain dead.

I will try out the possibilities and report back. I was completely wrong to assume it had something to do with PWCG. Your program has simply become an indispensable part of the product.
