HagarTheHorrible Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Not particularly indepth but gives a flavour. Can't wait fo for CV1 with BoS and RoF. I will be extremely upset if I pop my clogs between now and then. (I don't have any plans). http://www.cinemablend.com/games/E3-2014-War-Thunder-Soars-With-Oculus-Rift-64634.html
Feathered_IV Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Anything that can make War Thunder seem like the last word in immersion is definitely worth looking into.
Sternjaeger Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 so what's the current status of affairs with OR? When will we see a release?
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 S! No idea when OR is out, but pre-ordered my consumer version already Looks like a piece of hardware you can not walk by
DD_bongodriver Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The first place to check is here: https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/ so far no news but my guess is the news will come shortly after DK2's make it into the hands of developers. S! No idea when OR is out, but pre-ordered my consumer version already Looks like a piece of hardware you can not walk by ??? consumer version? they aren't on pre-order yet.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 S! Not from the makers I guess, but one of the biggest online stores here takes pre-orders on OR now. Price and availability will be told later. So at least I got my hooks on one of them
DD_bongodriver Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 It's amazing how business can work, but inspiring, I think I'm going to open a shop selling pre orders for the Holodeck. 2
OBT-Psycho Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 IIRC from infos I heard today, they plan to ship 30k units of their DK2 in july (probably late july). and after that, I think they plan to sell consumer version end of the year, but most probably in 2015
Tab Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Consumer Version is not going to happen until next E3. They said they will announce some own-made home-grown game demos by then. Hard to imagine that they will release the hardware before content, that would be a big fail.
DD_bongodriver Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 They can release it on the basis of third party content, that is the entire point of having developer kits.
Tab Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) They can release it on the basis of third party content, that is the entire point of having developer kits. They can, but they won't. How many major titles supporting OR are there now? They also need to gather and process feedback from DK2 users. Anyways they said themselves that content should be ready first and they are focusing on that and are hiring gamedevs from all around the world. I really doubt that they will make their future (and of the whole technology) reliable on 3rd party developers. and this: How many months will that all take, exactly? Iribe wouldn't be pinned down, but he did say that "it usually takes 6, 12, 18 months to make a new game or a new experience." And he said that clock really starts after the second developer kit ships to 40,000 preorderers next month so yeah, do not hold your breath. And here Palmer basically says that the next 6 months they will be creating consumer version from ground up: http://www.stuff.tv/oculus/oculus-founder-tells-stuff-were-going-sell-rift-cost-price/news I bet on release the next Easter. Pre-Order maybe from this X-mas. Edited June 12, 2014 by Tab
DD_bongodriver Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Assetto Corsa Elite Dangerous ArmaIII DCS War THunder Half-Life Team Fortress Hawken EVE (Valkyrie) Star Citzen to name some plenty enough to release the hardware and Q1 2015 is plenty of time for developers to make more content and to get feedback, their original idea didn't involve in house content, that only came along after the FB acquisition, there is no need to hold up release of the hardware for that, they need to gauge what the users of the hardware actually want first. I will be holding my breath. Edited June 12, 2014 by DD_bongodriver 1
71st_AH_Hooves Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Assetto Corsa Elite Dangerous ArmaIII DCS War THunder Half-Life Team Fortress Hawken EVE (Valkyrie) Star Citzen Cant wait for that one.
Georgio Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Pre-order with deposit sounds good...^^ It's amazing how business can work, but inspiring, I think I'm going to open a shop selling pre orders for the Holodeck.
DD_bongodriver Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Pre-order with deposit sounds good...^^ Cool, paypal me £5000,000 deposit to secure it and I'll throw in a free introductory gift.
SvAF/F19_Klunk Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Considering the hype around the Rift, I really hope the development team adress support for the device as soon as IL2 is released... They can get some really valuable "free" PR in the wash of the Rift
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 S! Well, I did not have to pay for my pre-order or OR etc. Not until the price is set and OR ready to be delivered. Can still cancel it if needed as well.
=RkSq=Hulkbeard Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 It's amazing how business can work, but inspiring, I think I'm going to open a shop selling pre orders for the Holodeck. HOLODECK! sign me up! who do i give all my money to?
